Another three points for the under 16's in a scrappy and hard fought match at the meadows today in a contest that never reached any heights.
Huntly took an early lead in the 6th minute when Scott LAW was on hand to turn a McIntosh cross into the net from close range.
Greg DORRAT increased Huntly's lead in the 19th minute when he drilled home a fine goal from a tight angle.
Huntly continued to dominate the rest of the first half without being able to increase their lead, due mainly to some fine goalkeeping by the Portlehen 'keeper and some indifferent finishing from Huntly.
The second half saw Huntly huff and puff without really troubling the Portlethen defence and play became scrappy.
The visitors were trying hard to get back into the game but couldnt really put the Huntly defence under any sustained pressure.
The game was sewn up three minutes from the end when captain Sam CLARK strode forward to take a free kick awarded two yards outside the visitors penalty box and smashed a glorious shot into the back of the net.
Not a great display from the lads but three points nonetheless. No doubt there will be tougher games coming up and they'll have to be a lot sharper if they want to be serious title contenders but that's well within their capabilities.
