I in many ways agree with what Chunda said. I was actually on the show and Sharon was AMAZING, completly and utterly amazing. One of the most beautiful and together woman I have ever met in my 21 yrs. I agree that Joanne was the "young media approved" winner. But she was also an amazing person as well. I think it is unfair to discount her TRUE beauty simply because she is young. I didn't get chosen because in every way I exemplified the typical miss america...blonde hair, blue eyes, barbie I didn't have a chance. But that dosen't mean that I am less worthy of being considered beautiful because of that. Do I think Sharon deserved it more than me...YES! she was more beautiful than I will ever have a right to hope to be both inside and out. However, I would have really liked to see a bigger girl win. Someone with actual size to them. Alicia for one was a beautiful girl with some real curves and someone who would have truly represented for bigger women. Both Sharon and Joanne were on the lower end of the size scale for big women. But overall, I believe the girl who wanted it the most won. Joanne may be young but she will do amazing things for plus sized women every where and I have every faith that Sharon will go on to do amazing things aswell. Someone with her strenght and wisdom knows that she is the true beauty. Youth's naive mind needs reassurance. I hope that you won't find dissapointment in the youth that was chosen to represent us, but support her, she may one day be that proud bald woman of 44 standing up to the world and the support she recieves now, will help to give her peace and acceptance in herself then and now.
