I know I left a lot of names out, but it's a start. If you can help my memory, I'd appreciate the input.
And in your prayers, please remember our colleagues in heaven Paul Colgary and Angelo LaMonte. Thank you!
Joe,thank you for reminding me of our dear sweet friend Angelo. The last six months before his death we became very good friends. For a long time after, I visited his mom. She fed me chocolate from the factory where she worked (so very hard) and Fresca to wash to down. She knew gave me a medal of his which I have safely tucked away in chest of special treasures. He had the whitest teeth and nicest smile I ever saw. And there wasn't even any over the counter teeth whiteners out yet. He looked just like his mom and his brother Franco just like his dad. His dad was a tiny little guiet guy who just smiled but never say much. I wonder where Franco is. Well, maybe someone might read this and as you said Joe, might be able to contact someone else who knows someone else, etc. Linda
Joe,
I remember Angelo, occasionally he comes to my memory when I think of the past. He and I were I guess what you'd call boyfriend and girlfriend and had broken up shortly before he drowned.
It took me a long time to get over it. Somehow I thought it was my fault, if we hadn't broken up he would have still been here. I know now how crazy that was to think that. But I will always miss his smile.
I just found this web site after I talked to Eileen Kildune (Strallow), Patty Ryan's cousin. Pats dad recently passed away and I needed her phone number. I' ll pass the reunion info onto her and my sisters as well. I occasionally talk to Bernie, so he'll get the news also. He keeps in touch with J. Bellina and John Lawrence.
Wow its been a long time. A reunion will be great. Hope a lot of people can make it.
I still visit the old neighborhood regularly because my dad still lives on 6th St.
It's been a couple of years, but Patty and I used to get together twice a year along with DeeDee O'Rourke, Marsha Bradbury, MaryEllen Daly. Sally Plaugic and Carol Ruz. When I talk to Pat she should have some of their phone numbers.
I'll check the site for new info. Hope all is well with you.
Hi, Martha! And thank you for posting some new names. Marsha and Sally will kill me if they find out I left them off the list! Well, I guess that's what reunions are for. haha! It's great to see your name here and don't be a stranger! Joe
Hi Martha,
So good to see you joining the site. It's wonderful to see these names and all the memories they raise. I also remember Betsy Doyle. We had some sort of family thing going where she was the mother and we were her kids? I remember that year I ended in the hospital and she called me. That meant so much to me as a friend.
Sherri Brent and I used to keep touch but haven't heard from her in a long time. I believe she teaches in Bloomfield. Maybe someone can locate her.
I wish I could make it to the reunion but I will be out of the country. Looking forward to reading all about it. Sally Plaugic, we went to high school together. Lost touch after that. Other names I remember are Jeanette Thomas, Angel ?, Sena Williams (did she graduate with us?),wasn't there a Jackie too, she use to live on the corner of 9th and Park?
My Dad still has his house on 9th St but is hardly there since my mom passed away in 92. hope to see some pictures of the Oct reunion..my sister is trying to make it,not sure she can yet.
Great to hear from you. Yes, it is wonderful to hear all these familiar names again. We had such a great place to grow up in. My dad is still living on 6th St. We were between 6th and 7th Avenuees. I'm over there quite often, but usually in daylight hours. Sorry you can't make the reunion. But I'm sure there will be lots of pictures. I have our class picture, if I can I'll scan it and send it to John. Doesn't seem like 35 years ago. Wow. I've been living in Kearny for 22 years now. My husband Dan and I have 3 boys. Daniel 19, Jonathan 15 and Glen 10. One in college, one in high school and one in grammar school, all catholic schools too. Those nuns must have done something right.
I know I had a picture somewhere but right now everything I have is in storage waiting to be shipped to Peru.It would be great to see faces of our friends. I have 2 sons, Peter 28 and Kristofer 26. I also have 3 grandchildren: Karynne 8, Aaronn 5 and Hailey 1. Things didn't work out with my first marriage but I am currently married to a wonderful man named Angel and with him come 2 children: Jason 22 (He's down-syndrome and a sweetheart) and Amanda 14,they live with their mom. We currently live in Florida. Will soon be moving to Peru. I will still be able to keep in touch with everyone since we will be able to hook up to internet once we are out there.
More names: Martin Kimball, Nancy Gross.
Of course, I remember you! Who wouldn't. Look at all females responding to your messages! But, you were always Patrick. You were such a cutey! Some where along the line, you became more sophisticated and became Joseph.
We sure had tons of fun playing on N. 6th Street... bubbles and all.
Martha and I were going through the website together while on the phone. How we LaUgHEd! It is such fun!
I remember Bobby Davis too and his brother, Michael right? Maybe Bobby remembers us through Mr. George Boylan. Mr. Boylan lived nextdoor to us.
We look forward to going to the reunion. But how come it has to be an afternoon tea? Are we THAT old?! I'll remember to bring my walker!
Can't wait to see everyone and I look forward to hearing from you, Joe.
Hi, Debbie! Great to hear from you. Ah, You had to bring up the bubbles, <blushing> I had to have been 9 yrs. old then. I have a lot of memories from 6th St. and it's getting better and better to see everyone coming on-line, a big Thanks to John Crowley! Looking forward to seeing you at the reunion. Joe
Thanks to Martha (Cook) Lane, we now have a class photo for one of the '67 mobs. Don't know which one, though: http://www.thecanteen.com/class67.html . Thanks, Martha.
Thanks for the memory. The picture is great, Martha! I remembered almost all the names, some only first names. I forgot about some people like Turia Banks. John, this class was Sr. Regina Rose's.
Do you remember me? Its only been 35 years. How have you been? I remember all of those classmates you are asking about. As far as where some of those are remains a mystery after losing touch all those years ago. I was able to locate Angela Silvestri on classmates.com. I am still searching for the others. Perhaps, I'll see you at the October reunion.
Hello, Risario! I'm looking forward to seeing you too! I can't wait until we get a picture of Sister Rita's class. Remember we were all split by last name. A-L was Sr.Regina and M-Z was Sr. Rita. Do you know where Joe Russo is? It sounds like the word is getting out and I hope to see more signing on. Thank you for writing. Joe F.
Was Joe Russo Anne Marie Russo's brother? If so, I believe he is now the Mayor of Montclair. NJ. I could be mistaken. Have you been in touch with Phyllis Florek yet? We should try to get her to sign up.
Hi, Rosario! Yes, thanks to Tom, I was able to reach her. John C. is helping her get into the site and she sounds very positive in attending the reunions. I hope she can make. From my emails, many others have been contacted or are being contacted through known relatives and friends. I hope Dee Dee has Sr. Rita's class picture, so we can get that on-line. Thanks for asking. JF
That sounds great! I hope we have this Reunion at a four star restaurant. I'll email Crowley about it and speak with Bob Davis, Linda DeRosa an others. We should make it for a Saturday night. Perhaps at the Hilton Hotel on Route 10 in East Hanover, NJ, The Tiara Hotel off Route 287 in Parsippany, or a comparable establishment thereof.
Great to hear from you! I also would love to hear from Phyllis Florek! We went to the Valley together but I missed the one class reunion- I did go to the all school reunion-- but the St.Rose Reunion was a blast!
St. Rose and the people were the best- and what a time to live and be young ( I can't believe most of us are looking at 50 soon)- I live in Maplewood only five miles from Roseville- I can't wait for our 'Return to Bountiful' more later- take care!
Joe this is Jim Doyle Marybeths brother she is in california working as an RN. what happened to Paul Colgary? I was once close to them they lived near
the McCormicks on 10th street as I recall or maybe 9th
stret just off of park ave.
Joe, I Know where Mark McGlone is, John McCree called me the other night. It was so great hearing from John. I remember you and Marty K well--you guys were great fun, so many laughs. Marty had a perpetual smile. Bobby Baumgart was another riot. Damm! we had alot of fun.
BTW, a post mentioned the girl who lived on the corner of Park and Ninth (I believe) named Jackie, if the person is who I am thinking, the name and person is Jackie Fern--a very bright, very pretty girl. I want to know what happened to Diane Romendetto and Barbara Curran, and that damm wise guy Jimmy Acousti, and of course Robert Schimpf another commedian. Rosario, Phyllis, Karen, and so many other names that brought back so many wonderful memories. Bye for now. Mark
Mark-
Jackie Fern is living in Toms River with
her husband and 3 daughters. I went past
our old neighborhood a few weeks ago.
Tommy's is still on the corner of 11th and 4th.
