This photo shows the McCree ranch on N. 4th Street, still handsome after all these years. Many happy memories of cutting through the driveway, into the back yard, up a tree stump and over a fence to the side yard of that church on 5th Street next to the library. I recall that none of the McCrees ever yelled at us.

John, Thanks for the picture of the home we lived in on Fourth Street. I think you were just lucky my Dad didn't catch you making that shortcut.
Wish I could move that house down to Maryland, but know we can't always have what we wish for.
Remember The Raassers, Lorenzos and Mannions from the old block?
Thanks again.
JOHHNY C., I ALWAYS KNEW YOU WERE "SPECIAL". I JUST FIGURED YOU TO BE THE ONE IN THE WATCH TOWER ONE DAY WITH RIFLES. .....WHAT YOU'VE DONE WITH THIS SITE IS EXTRAORDINARY...THIS PAST WEEKEND MARTY KIMBALL 'FOUND ME' AND ALERTED ME TO THE SITE et al. ALL I CAN SAY IS ....UNBELIEVEABLE !! SO *"CALL OFF THE DOGS"*. NOW............I TRULY APPRECIATE THIS SHOT OF OUR HOUSE ON FOURTH STREET. SO MANY OF OUR FRIENDS, CLASSMATES AND EVEN BURGLARS PASSED THROUGH. BUT THE FIRST THING THAT HIT ME THIS MORNING WHEN I SAW IT WAS.........THAT PORCH WAS THE LAST PLACE I SAW MY DAD BEFORE HE DIED...........JOHNNY BOY, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE MEMORIES.
Very glad to see you here. Thanks for the kind words. I always liked your family. Sara reminded me of the time we walked to the Stadium for the Fourth fireworks. I don't think we ever had a fight -- a rarity among good friends in Newark!
John, remind me which class you were in so I can update the Memebers List. And come back often.
John,
Speaking of pictures; Who was that old gent from a few weeks back who was wearing the Croix de Guerre.
Very distinguished.
Fourth St and the library; Use to walk to it from Park Ave. Is the house in the picture the same one that sat by itself on the large fenced in lot at the corner across the street from the library?
I was always curious who lived there behind the candle lite windows.
Benny Abruzzo of 2nd Street is a retired Newark cop living in roseland.
Gary Grimsely is an administrator with the Union County Educational Services Commission in Scoth Plains.
Bobby Molinaro of 3rd street played for the Tigers, White Sox, Cubs, Orioles and Philles. He lives in florida.
Ray Iannuzzi of 3rd Street is a retired Belleville HS health teacher. He still lives in Belleville.
Charles hand married Joann Rocco of 2nd street and lives in Bloomfield. He is a retired teacher.
Mike torluccio of third street married a different
Joann Rocco and lives in clifton. He works at the air port.
Frank McCree is the principal of Liberty Academy Charter School in Jersey City. His son is football coach of Wilkes University. Wife is former Jeanne Parisi.
Sadly < Norman Jackie Scholtz has not been looking well lately. The former 4th streeter is an early morning regular at Dunkin donuts on Main ?Street in Orange. Get better Jackie boy.
Lenny Donofrio lives in Linden and is a top salesman for Hale Organ. He appears at various malls.
Bernie Mooney lives in West Orange and has been playing softball for over 40 years. Brother Gene passed away resently, but brother John and lifelong friend Frank ciampi and Frank Pitt are still active.
What ever happened to Clyde Tyler, Kenny Salarno, Oleg Mosalko, anthony Pascerosa, Moose Racioppi, Joey Lips, Ronnie Z, Louie the Greek, Lenny donofrio, Tony Hammed, Donald Belfiore and the gang at Bubbles- third and Orange Street, Milford smith, Dwight "Nugget" Smith, Leroy smith from PAL, Sally's on Sussex and 4th Street, the tennis courts down by the subway, Grunnings, Roseville Delicatessan, Moy bings, Moe Berg, and Mister Mal/ anyone know?
Regarding that big house across from the 5th Street library branch: I think it was a retirement home for ministers or something. Always very mysterious. Last time I was in Newark I drove by and took a picture of it.
This view is from Sussex Avenue, looking north. The house on the hill is gone; only the hill remains. To the right you can see the library through the trees. A 5th Street apartment house is still there, behind other trees. Still there, though, is a huge Horse Chestnut tree on 5th Street. We used to pry the meats from their spiky shells and carve them up (or throw them at each other).
Hi John - Welcome to the site. It was so good to hear from you. I was unable to respond. I will add your name to the Friday reunion. Please keep in touch. Hope to see you soon. Susan
John, I know Mr. Boots. But I call him Grampa Boots. He's father-in-law to the man I work for. Sure is a small world. Mr. & Mrs. Boutisikaris are well and live in Clifton. I see them often.
And, the mystery-man, I wonder who that is? But, I'm curious to know if it's Anthony Molinaro. He's a good friend to another person I work with. I spoke w/Anthony a couple of weeks ago. He would probably be one to know about all those people mentioned on this page. So, Anthony, are you the mystery-man, or is this a mystery that shall remain unsolved?
