Aside from the alledged stolen SRL deposits in 1957 (everyone has a story about that), what ever became of those grammer school savings accounts? The bank (National Newark and Essex?)is out of business, so what ever happened to the money? A pre-Enron scandal?

The bank accounts

Here's hoping they were expended for the benefit of those pagan babies whose smiling faces we used to stick on that tree on the bulletin board. I remember that five bucks bought you one, and they didn't seem to have much to say about it.

As for the great heist of 1957, well, Sister Grace Gabriel didn't buy the story and quickly detected it as an "inside job" and NPD sweated it out of the perps pretty quick, as I recall correctly. I heard that the guilty parties went on to bigger and worse things, but can't confirm that -- just heresay, but it makes for a better story.

The chief NPD investigator, I believe, was none other thatn Officer Donnelley, the crossing guard who aptly detected too much coincidence in the events.
As for those mission babies, I suspect many of them grew to adulthood just in time to shoot at our soldiers in South East Asia.
