Well I am on a roll! Wearing red and having an after lunch zeppoli in honor of St. Joseph -
another dogma trivia (I am sure Martha Lane & Eileen Strallow are out there LOL)
Didn't we used to get our throats blessed today? And is it true that if you bury a statue of St.Joe in your yard- your house will sell?

No no no......if you bury a statue of St Joe your dogma will find it, unbury it, bring it inside and your house will smell. :-Þ

No. We got our throats blessed on the feast of St. Blaise, who once miraculously cured a child with a fish bone caught in his throat. I think the feast day is February 2.

Meanwhile, back at the mission

I have a special place in my heart for St. Joseph, who as we all know is the patron saint of children's aspirin. This is the day each year when the swallows come back to Capistrano.

Go To Mass!

March 20 2003, 12:21 AM

Laura, If you went to Mass more often you would know the Blessing by St. Blaze was on February 2, 2003. This has nothing to do with St. Joseph's Day, which is March 19th. Remember the hot cross buns on this day.

What?

March 20 2003, 12:15 PM

Now I'm confused!
If you Swallow St. Joseph's asprin, you will choke on a fish bone and only candles will help?
Then you have to bury them in your yard, eat Zeppoles, and sell your house?
What about smudging palm ashes on your head?
Boy, isn't it great being Catholic?

Hey Laura,

It worked, no shit. When I moved from Bloomfield to Oakland 4 years ago, someone told Eileen to bury the statue after our house had been on the market for 2 months. Like a good husband I did as she asked, and within the week the house was sold.

Billy, I did the same thing. It did work for us also. In fact, we had two buyers and had to choose which couple got the house. We have since become good friends with the people who brought the house 12 years ago.
