There are a lot of messages on the original post with old dates so I thought I'd make it easier by starting a new post on the subject.
I was wondering if we could get a program started with other catholic schools to 'adopt' St. Rose of Lima School. Maybe you still have a child in a catholic school or have a connection with a school your child went to. I'm going to speak to the principal of the school my youngest son goes to and ask if she would agree to a program where each classroom purchases a bible for the corresponding classroom at St. Rose, or dictionaries, thesaurus, calculators or any other lower priced items on the school's wish list, but always the same item from each class. (I'll be looking for places to give us a volume discount.) My middle son is going to inquire at the catholic high school he goes to for a similar project. I think it's a good way to get the school the everyday, hands-on items they need. The big-ticket items will come later. (I don't want to see the SRLAA become bankrupt from buying books and copy paper.)
It seems that John Crowley has easy access to the staff at the school and maybe he can get an updated list from Candida on the every day items.
Of course, these are just suggestions.

I spoke to our school principal about this and she was VERY receptive to it. It's kind of late for her to arrainge something for Christmas this year but is considering something during Lent. She asked to see the SRL Wish List.
Our school principal has perused the 'wish List' from St. Rose and is offering 30+ sets of dictionaries and thesauri. She writes, "....that are gently used and in storage and I would gladly send to them as a symbol of our willingness to assist." I'll be able to see them on January 7th. and we'll take it from there. John Crowley has been advised.
100 slightly used (many with the typical brown-paper-jacket cover) dictionaries were delivered to SRL today on behalf of the SRLAA. I apologized for them not being new books. They are intermediate dictionaries for grades lower than 8th. yet large books.
Candida Esposito said they are very useable and sends her thanks to the SRLAA.
