It's still MLK Day here!

It's just 10:15 PM Jan. 19, 2004 here on the West Coast of this great country and I'm checking my email and the St. Rose message board and messages about Branch Brook Park and Humboldt St and I've not been back but a few hours from Humboldt County, CA ?) and I'm realizing not a post has yet addressed Dr. King Day.
One of the graces of going to our fair school was geography. I landed up at FDU in Rutherford (far from the Ivy League) where, in the fall of 1967, Dr. King spoke, shortly after being released from jail for the last time. I know the energy and presence of self with which that man gifted us that day with his message.
At news of his death, just five months later, we students walked arm-in-arm demonstrating on the main street of Rutherford, New Jersey. Rutherford, New Jersey!
I trust the kids at SRL had, at least, a day off.

Well said, Stephen. As Dr. King said, it's not enough to just resist killing someone; you must resist hating them.
