John, Happy New Year. May we begin the year of the monkey with joy and happiness.
Would anyone like to share their Chinese Restuarant memories. My parents used to take us to eat downtown on Mulberry Street and tell us it was Newark's China Town.
Funny thing I never understood why., unless there were black Chinese people.

Who among us could possibly forget Moy Bings, both locations. Was that story about the cats true or just an urban legend along with The White Lady. I guess we will never know.

Yes, Happy 4701.

As a kid I hated Chinese food and routinely ditched it behind the radiator when no one was looking.

Later, however, I developed quite a taste for it. As teens we ate at Moy Bing's all the time; it was good and cheap. I also recall pulling a "Dine and Dash" there with Art Fonden and Dennis Stawarski. Funny thing was, those two jokesters bolted before I was ready, and the chef, who had been eyeballing us, charged out of the kitchen with a cleaver, and I barely got out the door. Dennis was flat-footed and couldn't run very well, and nearly got caught. Art and I didn't stop until we got to the train station.

I never went into the old Moy Bing's until after they'd moved. After that there was a family living there, with a pretty girl named Susan. I think they were Jewish. We were up there a few times. I remember thinking the place was exceedingly red.
