There will be a guided tour of St. Stephen's Church in Kearny. Again, our connection to Roseville and St. Rose of Lima church is Fr. John P. Washington.

The church houses a very famous stained glass window; a memorial window dedicated to Fr. Washington. The window not only shows a likeness of the priest but the lower panel depicts the sinking USAT Dorchester.

Guided tours of the church will be held this Sunday, June 6th. beginning at 1:30 PM and every 10 minutes thereafter with the last tour starting at 4:00 PM. The tour will last approximately one hour and consist of 12 stops. Each stop will have a guide who will explain architecture, symbolism, and catechesis.

I am co-author of the text being presented during this tour and after having done so much research on religious symbolism I found myself recognizing the same symbols and why they are were they are during a recent walk though our great cathedral-basillica, Sacred Heart. Sunday mass has not been the same since I now realize and appreciate that which surrounds me.

If you are interested in attending this FREE event, please call our rectory at 201-998-3314 and ask what times are available.
