John, thanks for the tip about 6 North 9th Street perhaps being in one of the photo's. Yes, indeed, there it is. You have two photo's showing the railroad corssings, and the old station at 7th Ave and 9th Street. Right in the top middle of both photo's is a light colored three story apt bldg with stores on the ground floor. Right next door to that is 6 North 9th Street. It was here that my mother's aunt, Agnes (Aggie) Carlin, raised my mother and her sisters (the Tighe sisters) back in the 1920's and 30's. My mother was living there when she married my father in 1941.
I can still remember my father telling me that before he married my mother he spent many a night waiting for her while standing on the corner of Orange and Roseville. When she didn't show up after a long wait he would go to one of her aunt's houses and wait for her there.
Her other aunt, Mary (Maggie) Carlin lived at 105 Roseville Ave till she died in 1939. |
