I know you probably don't know me, but I lived in the Roseville Ave. area. I knew Eddie Humm and was on the Newark Police Dept. with him until retirement.
Talking about Bloomfield Tech. I had a friend who lived on 7 Th. St. by 4 Th. Ave. William Bottomley. He went to Bloomfield Tech and used to mention W>E> Purdy. Does his name ring a bell.
Hey Ed. I knew Eddie Humm from being in the Imperial Lancers in the early 60's as well as himm being the best man at my sisters wedding. Was sorry to here he passed on.
I knew Eddie when we were all in the Drum Corps. Would you be kind enough to let me know how he died? He was a really nice guy. Too many of us are passing on.
I was in W. E. Purdy's Aviation Class in 1964. He would not let some guys use the shop equipment because he would say " you might cut your goddamm hand off, then what will do. I don't want to have to clean the blood up and Al (the janitor with the big thumb) he don't want to clean it up eather". Mr. Basley was the tall guy, about 6'-6", and the best teacher of them all. Purdy was one weird dude.
