Does anyone remember Volcania'a Pizza
on the corner of orange and 4th street
That was a place to get pizza
At the time i lived on 7th ave between 3rd and 4th street prior to living at 27 myrtle ave where i grew up
it was the prettiest house on the block
at the time my parents were doing well they had
all the stucco removed from the house
and put this pink siding on the house the house stood out on the block it was asbestos
i spent my youth at myrtle ave from 1956 until 1962
before moving to 7th avenue
I hear all these people on the post talking about pig tails alley i was the holy terror of pig tails alley
anytime when i got it trouble it was mostly from pig tails alley, from the back you can get into the garage which was almost the size of our house
at the time my father rented the garage out to a motorcycle gang, after a short period of time it didn't work out, so my father said get the hell out of here, there was no shortage of motorcycle gangs in that area, when i was a kid i use to watch them going down the street and in the winter i use to throw snowballs at them but when they got off their bikes i was way to fast for them to catch me
I had many friends Warner Hossenbush(spelled wrong i think) David Iwanski, my friends up the street Peter and Paul Winklbauer, John Crowley, Artie Fonden, Brendan Kildunne (Please forgive me if i spell the names wrong) to Mary Winklbauer Rafferty I am still sorry for that front tooth. and my friend Dennis Stawarski
and I were agriculturist we cut down small trees and cleared the field of unwanted weeds to make way for wanted ones.We cultivated the soil this stuff stunk to high heaven of rotted fish, but a few days later we had our little seedlings they say that music is good for plant growth, one day i brought my guitar there we were singing songs because we thought it would help and it was fun. Unfortunley this was Dennis and my secret of course we all know what we planted cultivation time are plants were 3-4 feet high, but we were so afraid the other guys would find out we ripped them out by the roots and put them in a suitcase, when i tell you it filled the suitcase, but we pulled them out prematurly and the first drag didn't take you any where near the 4th or 5th toke , I can remember on our way back to Dennis's house we were so paranoid here we are with a suitcase full of pot and it wasn't worth crap. That brings back good memories to all of you from St Rose and The Roseville section my name is Dan Haines class of 64 my friend Dennis was class of 66 with my sister Diane
