Being as it's so damned hot this week, let's cool off with this photo from the Borsos Archives. The time is March 1956, and the view is from N. Seventh Street. I feel cooler already. Thanks, Skip!

This view looks north on 7th St., into its intersection with Orange St. If I'm not mistaken, the tree in the foreground was in front of Robert Schimpf's house, if they even lived there yet in '56.

No Seventh Street Snow Storm

June 8 2005, 12:03 PM

Marty, the photo was taken from the porch of 107 North Seventh Street, home of Don Pearson. His sisters were Jeanne and Betty Lou. Don't know if that helps.I personally didn't know anyone else on that block. Don died in St Peter's hospital in New Brunswick in 1990, so we can't ask him. He was living on Green Street in Old Bridge.

Skip, thanks again for sharing these great photos. Folks may not know you were more closely associated with the Roseville Methodist Church than St. Rose. But of course we all mixed it up in Roseville.

North Seventh Street, Donnie Pearson,s/Schimpf House

June 9 2005, 2:16 PM

We lived at 109 North Seventh Street and having the exact same view either from Donnie's porch or almost the same from our porch next door. My Dad's and my cousin's cars are under that snow this is also the location in front of Donnies and our house that neighborhood kids found a body in a car and called my Dad, He contacted the police. The Roseville Deli was on the corner. That fence was in front of our house. Skip you're amazing. Does anyone have a picture of #109 ?

Dick, I've seen all of Donnie's photos from that era, and, sorry to say, none of them show the fronts of either house.
If one does exist, someone else had to have taken it.

I'll check the Berg Collection next time I'm at the library. I knew someone who may have lived at 107. Was there a Tedesco or Pomponio family there?

John, I can't answer that for sure. The Pearson family moved from there to Old Bridge sometime in 1956; who bought the house or lived in it after that I can't say. I'll ask someone in the family if they might know and get back to you.

Pearson Family sold house to Schimpf family. Pearson family relocated to Old Bridge where while my son was attending a halloween party, I couldn't believe the guy directing traffic into his driveway was Donnie Pearson, My old next door neighbor from North Seventh Street. His son's hosted the party for Madison Central Students. Schimpf family owned house when my parents and sister moved to Kearny, early 70's

Thanks Dick. I was in the process of getting that information from Don's wife, and you beat us all to the answer.
