I know this web-site is dedicated to Bodholt's Diner, but i think a relative of Bodholt's was Willy's in Bloomfield. I think many of us Rosevilleites also went to Willy's.Willy's as we remember it is no more.

Willie"s Dinner.

August 3 2005, 11:22 PM

Yes. .I would definitely agree that Willi"s was the royal heir apparent to Bodholts. I was shocked when My Husband drove me by it today, to see it razed to the foundation.we had no idea why this was done, or that it was going to be acomplished. the last we saw, about a month ago, was a sign on the door, that it would re-open as soon as repairs were effected. does anyone Know what is going on??? do we really need another asian restaurant, or another nail salon in Bloomfield?????!!!!

What I heard is that Willie's Diner is closed for renovation. The kitchen was too small. It's going to reopen as Willie's Diner again. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Never went to Willy's, but I do have many fond memories of the Short Stop, a little place of Bloomfield Avenue, next to the Parkway. They served up your eggs in a hot little skillet and had excellent coffee. Couldn't have been more than ten stools at the counter and another ten against the windows. It closed down a few years ago, but the sign in the window said it would be re-opening after renovations. It was renovated, all right - right into a Dunkin' Donuts! Sheesh.

Willy's Diner & The Short Stop

August 30 2005, 11:13 PM

I had the opportunity to eat at both of these places on a number of occasions while attending Bloomfield College more years ago than I'd care to admit.

The general atmosphere and the quality of the food found at both places are of very fond memory.

Trust that Willy's will manage to pull off a comeback

Cruising Bloomfield Ave to the oldies. Last stop,Willies
Diner! Is Willies part of the eminent domain lawsuit that
the town of Bloomfield just lost this past week? I think
it was the other side of the street, but I'm not sure?
It always beats Ed's hot dogs unless its 4 AM! The Harris diner in East Orange wasn't bad either! My favorite was the Clairemont. If we got thrown out, White Castle was next door.

All this Diner talk has made me recall the three best items on the menu (years ago of course)----- the coffee, the burgers and the real english muffins, toasted not grilled! Some places now even charge for that second cup. Of course everything tasted great at 2am didn't it?
