Since we are getting close to the holidays, I was just thinking about the Roseville Pumpkin Parade along Orange Street that my father used to take me to when I was a kid back in the late 40's/early 50's. How many of you remember that and the rest of the Bam's Thanksgiving Day Parade?

greetings! thank you for your posting about the pumpkin Parade...it's nice to know that it was not just a figment of my imagination. I have great memories of that parade. and the prizes offered for the best "float". I can still taste that sweeter than sweet shoud be-orange soda and white sugar donuts that were given out at the armory at the end of the parade. My family had a large black-and white phot (now lost), of my parents dressed as ghosts, pulling a ship called "the never sail", up orange street, we my brother and I sitting on it in our costumes. My father built the float....and another year, he built a 4 seater bike, wher we all sat in our cosumed glory...(my seat was on the end...and it was a fake...I didn't even have to pedal....ha ha!!) I sure would love to see any pictures from the pumpkin parade, at this site. I really enjoyed the picture of the subway. thank you! Lucia.

Funny you should mention that. Thanks to the generosity of the good people at St. Rose, I am able to share some photos of the 1950 Roseville Punkin Parede, which were sitting in a basement box for 50 years and otherwise might never have been enjoyed by anyone again. http://www.thecanteen.com/punkin01.html .
