Those who have been following the recent controversy will be interested to learn that today I met with Monsignor Linder, who has assured me he had no part in the recent attempt to get me to remove SRL Archive photos from my website and has no objection to the photos remaining where they are. The issue is closed.
John....As an old Orange Street|Roseville |East Orange native, I found this site by looking for a reference to an old friend...(Had to look hard but, wa-lah, there it was ) ....What a treasure to see ourselves as we were in our youth....never mind the old neigbohhood.....
I found a friend of my sisters here also...(1958) What a surprise! We thought all those photo's were lost forever...But an old schoolmate posted it...Thank You!
These pictures are not "copy righted". They are our's...(didn't we have to pay for that book, picture or whatever?)
Our childen's and our grandchildens for generations to come own them !Hopefully, someone will carry on the work that is on this site, so we are not forgotten...And John, I thank you for your great dedication....
And now i'm going to throw my nickel in to the fray.....
The Jimmy Buff's on Route 22 made/makes the best: bread stuffed,,,soggy potato,,,limp onion,,,sweetest fried pepper ,,,crisp-skinned meat and soggy Italian hot-dog on the east coast...that's why ya got to get alot of napkins........I have ruined more jeans with grease stains getting one of those double's, than I care to remember,,, but that is only my opinion...burp! Dickie-Dee's make's the best on the avenue..And I have talked too much.....Miss all the day's that are gone.....and the great food and times ................
Now how about tripe ? ...who made the best ? I still vote for Orange Street......
As a few of you know, I had suspended publication of SRLAA-related posts pending resolution of that photo issue, because every time someone posted something about the association, someone else would use the occasion to start another heated debate. And of course I personally contacted the people who'd posted and explained the situation, and I think everybody understood. However, now that the situation is resolved, that proscription is lifted. Thanks for your patience.
John, I love this picture since it captures the fun and excitement on the faces of the crowd as they watch the parade passing by. I especially love it because my grandparents are there, smack dab in the middle of the shot. Thanks for finding this one!
