question on North Ward Center building

Hi all, I'm trying to put together a feature on my website on Roseville Avenue. There's one building whose history I'm desperate to learn about.

Could anyone here tell me who the builder was of this?

It's now owned by the North Ward Center. An unusual feature of the mansion is shamrocks on the window lunettes.

Is it on the East side of Roseville Avenue near 4th Avenue? If so, I think it might have been Megaro's.

Mary Jane, how do you remember all this stuff? You were always so smart in school.

This is indeed the old Megaro's. It closed about 15 years ago with only one location left on Union Ave. in Belleville.

Hey JC,
We passed this on our jaunt up Roseville Ave to 280 to Jimmy Buff's... yep, it was Megaro's. We used to play tackle football on that little patch of grass in front. Sure beat playing on the parking lot behind Girl's Vo.

It was Megaro's Funeral Home. My cousin was a doctor and he had an office 2 doors down from there. There were a ton of doc's in that neighborhood.

Iacobucci Memorial Funeral Home. Richard Iacoboucci sponsered our softball team in the Schools Stadium League in the late 60's and early 70's. He' would drive his new cadillac on the field and hit infield while wearing a tailer made white silk shirt. He ran unsuccessfully for city council on a "law and order" platform RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES. He was a great guy and threw us some terrific parties at Pepe's. The team was made up of a lot of neighborhood guys such as Dominic and Michael DiFalco, New Street, Charles hand, Central Avenue, Ben Abruzzo 2nd Street, Carmine Marra, Tony Insano, Ray iannuzzi, third street, John Matthews, John Hempel. John O'rourke,
and others. Richard Iacobucci was a stand up guy.

Hi Frank, If it's the Carmine Marra who went to Essex Catholic, I'll tell him you said Hi!. He lives across the street from me.
