I only found this group in the last few months, and since I have just moved, I haven't been reading on-line for a while, but I HAVE had the opportunity to share your presence with my two older sisters, Debbie Iwansky Stanziola, and Joan Iwansky Fiore. We lived between Pig Tail's Alley and Myrtle Avenue (#21).
So here you go-> I was showing Joan all the old (Berg and other) photos I downloaded, and when she saw "Nina's Costume Jewelry" two doors down from Dairyland on Orange Street, she flipped.
Joan's "best" friend was Camille Squetirri (sp?) and if I recall, Camille lived on Roseville close by 6th Avenue. Camille married an Italian man, a "Carabinieri", one of the elite military police, and she moved to Italy with him.
Camille's mother owned "Nina's Costume Jewelry", which was about six feet wide and eight feet deep, and she sat in that tiny shop day in and day out. "Nina" was Camille's older sister, and my sister Joan loved that name so much she vowed to name her own daughter "Nina" some day. And she did... My niece, who has two teens and a ten year old of her own lives in Milano Italy, not far from my sister, who lives in Milano with her husband Sam Fiore who reigns from Union, NJ
Two girls from Roseville... one with a sister, and one with a daughter, named Nina, both 4500 miles from home.
And now you know the rest of the story. |
