Dug up this old postcard of Branch Brook Park. Always the best part of Roseville (next to Bubbles' Grocery).

Boat House, Barringer and ?

July 27 2006, 6:49 PM

Sacred Heart Cathedral?
and the two houses in the front? Are they in Forest Hills?
Where the heck was the photographer standing?
In looking around on Ebay- I have seen some things that were long gone by the time my era came round in Branch Brook Park...
Places I have no memory of....
Rustic Bridge
Fountain
Clarke's Island
Sand Court
Flower Court

not in Branch Brook--- but did anyone ever see Tiffany Falls?

White Lady...

July 27 2006, 7:50 PM

I have never seen the White Lady of Branch Brook personally- but I do recall a story that she was spotted one evening on the bridge over the trolly tracks on 4th Ave- outside the Tennis Courts....
Did anyone actually ever see or play tennis in those Tennis Courts?

Laura, this shot was taken from a building on Orange Street, by Duryea Street, looking north. In front is the old boat house. Above it is the Park Avenue bridge; to the right are Newark High School (later renamed Barringer, then replaced), and yes, the cathedral under construction. Below them is the old reservoir, later the home of the ice skating rink. That road at the bottom is the old road to Jersey City, if I'm not mistaken.
