Jim Egan sends in this photo and message:

My brother Eddie (second from right) had a road trip. This group left the Scranton area Friday (when all the roads were closed) and basked in the culinary delights of the Newark area for 4 days. I’m awaiting the report. Only Eddie has ever had Dickie Dee’s and Jimmy Buff’s. In Scranton, they have “Texas wieners”, (Chile dogs on toast). I will see Rick this Thursday as I’m going to the Dentist. Ever try eating a double with the works all shot up with Novacaine? Get out the napkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only 25 days to St. Patrick. Happy Fat Tuesday, Lent starts tomorrow. No alcohol for 40 days (except with The Fighting Irish in NY on the 17TH).

visit to Dickie Dee's

Our visit to Newark was wonderful! Went to Dickie Dee's as you can see from the photo with Rick himself, and also to Jimmy Buff's. Visited the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart and stayed at the Turtle Brook Inn. Owners Paula and Brian Cassera treated us like family, even though we knew Jimmy Egan! LOL
Thanks to Jimmy's suggestions and directions we had a great time, and hope to visit again soon. Jimmy, maybe next time we can get together. Eddie and I were disappointed not seeing you, and our friends were too! Thanks for everything...Love you, Bev

AND THE WINNER IS ?

February 23 2007, 5:30 PM

HAH, IT'S A TIE !

THIS GROUP HAD HOT DOGS, SAUSAGE, AND CHEESE STEAKS!
THE VOTE WAS SPLIT EVENLY BETWEEN DICKIE DEES AND
JIMMY BUFF'S. ALTHOUGH COUNTED IN THE FINAL TALLY,
THE NUMBERS ARE SKEWED AS I'M TOLD "EDDIE WILL EAT
ANYTHING THAT'S NOT NAILED DOWN" !AS YOU CAN SEE
FROM THE PICTURE THE TWO ON THE ENDS HAVEN'T MISSED
ANY MEALS RECENTLY. WE THANK THIS OUTSTANDING PEOPLE
FROM SCRANTON PA. FOR A TRULY INDEPENDENT OPINION.

IT WAS ALSO NOTED THAT BOTH CARS HAD TO ADD AIR TO THE
TIRES BEFORE RETURNING TO NORTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA!

Jimmy,

I can't believe this posting... I've been away a couple of days, but when I got back I happened to drop in to Jimmy Buff's on Rt 22. They were all excited about the cover story in New Jersey Monthly. Guess what it's about?

http://www.njmonthly.com/issues/2007/02-Feb/coverstory/index.htm

So I come home and sit down at my computer to "resurrect" the JB vs DD debate and I find this fantastic new "Hot Dog" posting !

YES ! Hot dog season is here! Baseball can't be far behind.
