| Since Sunday is the final show of "The Sopranos" I decided to honor Tony by paying a pilgrimage this afternoon to his old house. I remember them referring at least once that Tony lived in Newark on ^6th Street and Orange"Well I could not find anything there except the police station.
If he is 47, he had to go to elementary school between 1966 and 1974. I wonder if the family moved during those times to West Orange. Rememeber the 67 riots.
If they did not move, did young
Tony go to SRL, Roseville, or Sussex Avenue? Remember the show he worked out a scam with an assemblyman from 7th Street and a black non-profit agency director from Roseville Avenue? Old friends from the neighborhood. We never called it the "hood".
I am sorry that Chase did not write in more refeences to our old Roseville neighborhood.
Tony fighting in PigTail Alley, rather than at Pizzaland. Playing leftfield for Barringer, not West Orange. What if Uncle Junior owned Bubbles store and hung with Tony's dad and Paulie at the tennis courts. Opportunities lost.
And the final scene is at Holsten's in Bloomfield? They could at least called it Grunings.

There was a white house next to the police station. An Italian family lived there. The son was Junior. He went to Sussex. I thought he may be Paulie. |

I figure he went to Garfield but moved at some point: In the episode where he and Janice are in their mother's basement looking through a box of mementos, he pulls out a high school letter he won in some sport (which apparently had yet to be sewn onto his jacket), and it was "WO." West Orange?
(I think I read that those flashback scenes about the old neighborhood were actually shot Down Neck.) |
