A friend sent me this site and when I opened it the first thing I saw was my father's drug store on Orange Street and Roseville Avenue. I was overwhelmed with wonderful memories of a magical time!
My father opened F&M Drgus sometime in the early 50's. It was the center of Orange Street where people gathered for friendship, advice and oh yes....prescriptions. Customers became lifetime friends and my father's life was consumed with caring for others.
My father, Silvio Matarazzo, usually called "Matty" died on November 11, 2004.
I worked for Matty as a teenager at both stores. I had great respect for Matty and he taught me alot about business and dealing with people. I think about him from time to time and would love to take one more ride in that old Falcon wagon he had. I recently met a a man who grew up in Harrison, Tom Healey. He also worked for Matty and we love to talk about those great times.
