We grew up with Fred Thompson and Robert Florio.

Our Fred Thompson lived on Orange Street and attended Sussex Avenue School '59 and Newark Tech '63. He was a very good basketball player and played varsity basketball for two years at Newark Tech. He served in Viet Nam and became a letter carrier in Kearny.

Robert Florio played a lot of sports at the tennis courts. he was a very good baseball player. In football his nicknmae was the "flea".

I bet we can think of some other famous names, such as Dan Daly the actor.

Famous Name: Sgt. Maj. Daniel J. Daly

Frank, I prefer to use another Dan Daly. Sgt.Maj. Daniel J. Daly USMC, two time Medal of Honor winner, also awarded a Navy Cross for his actions at the Battle of Belleau Wood during WW I. He is also famous for his encourging words at that battle. "Come on, you sons of bitches, do you want to live forever?. On they went to win the battle and the Germans who fled called the "Teufelshunden" or Devil Dogs.
