I just joined this group; great website. Although I grew up in Hillside, I spent a lot of time in Newark -- shopping and particularly dancing on Disc-O-Teen broadcast by Channel 47, WNJU-TV at the Mosque Theater from 1965-1967. I am coordinating a Disc-O-Teen reunion slated for Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Hilton Newark Airport Hotel. Reunion starts at 6 p.m. and runs till midnight. I've also blocked off rooms at the Hilton for those who would want to stay over.
For complete info, go to the reunion website at http://wnjutv47.com/Reunion.html and also check out our press release at http://wnjutv47.com//PressRelease.html
Zacherley will be attending, as will a few celebrity guests. There will be live entertainment, door prizes, trophies given out, live music by The Doughboys (they won the battle of the bands in 1967) plus surprises and celebrity guests.
Dinner buffet will include Chicken Francese, Eggplant Rollatini, Baked Salmon with Creole Mustard Sauce, Pasta, veggies and rice, tossed salad, plus all the other fixings.
Cost of the dinner/dance is $55 per person, $99 per couple. Details and mailing info can be found on our website, or you can contact me direct at my email: email@example.com. Best way to sign up, however, is by going to the website: wnjutv47.com/reunion.html and printing out a registration form. Deadline is Oct. 29; all checks must be in by then, as I have to give the Hilton a head count.
Even if you never went on the show, if you like Zacherley and have followed his career, either on Chiller Theatre or when he was a DJ on WNEW-FM and WPLJ-FM, please join us for a big birthday celebration. He turned 89 on Sept. 26, and we're using the reunion as the kick-off for a year-long celebration of his upcoming 90th year.
I danced regularly on Disc-O-Teen from June 1967 to the last show taped Oct. 31. My friends on the show were June and Marsha Conner, Michelle Grohol, Cheryl Balun, Maria Martone and too many others to mention. After Disc-O-Teen went off the air, I got to know more of the dancers. If you have a Disc-O-Teen connection, please let me know! If you can't attend the show, Marsha Conner is putting together a memory booklet for all the former dancers. For inclusion in it, email me and I'll pass on your info to her.

Thanks, Nancy. Several of us here were Disc-O-Teen regulars. Myself, I was a fixture there in '66 and '67, along with Art Fonden, Judy Horton, Barbara Lardiere, Pam Capasso, et al. Had a couple run-ins with Barry, but who didn't? Am glad to hear Zach will be in attendance. See you at the show.
