Google Maps Street View

I Just took a walk down memory lane using Google maps “street view”. If you type an address into Google, and then choose maps, you will see a feature called “street view”. This will show you a picture of that address, or close, and from here you can use your mouse to walk all over town. House by house, and block to block, you can also spin the camera around to look across the street, and even click and drag the picture to look up and down. I just walked to my old school from 1438 Leslie Street, 07205 and from there visited my old haunts. “My” Nick's candy store is now a barber shop, and how predictable that “Uncle Toms Tavern” is no more. Too bad, as they had the best pizza oven in town. Give it a try! Just a note: Not every street is included, but Newark is very well covered. If your address does not bring a street view, just try another. In fact I just did a test, and St. Rose is there, and let's see if you can find your way home.

This is great. I was my old house. It looks a lot different. It was so great seeing all of the houses.

Amazingly, my grandma's house at 40 North 7th st is still standing. Checked out my old addresses in Roseville -- one of them is now in the middle of 280. Glad I did this but also found it sad to do so.
