BOYCOTT EXXON GAS NOW!!!!
DO NOT BUY GAS FROM EXXON FOR THE NEXT 6 MONTHS AND WATCH THE PRICE OF GASOLINE NOSEDIVE. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO LET THEM KNOW THAT WE WILL NOT TAKE THIS PRICE GOUGHING ANYMORE. REMEMBER THERE IS STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!!!!!!!! SENT THIS EMAIL TO AT LEAST 10 PEOPLE.
I hate to sound like I'm living the 1960's, but it should be $.99 a gallon. We are being shafted by the oil snakes. Why don't they open their accounting books to us for an audit. You don't hear any mention of this by the media or the current administration. I think we're being scammed bigtime. That is why we must boycut Exxon and the rest of them will cave in an lower their prices. Don't pay cash, it adds to the money laundering/drug business. Any comments from anyone???
I try and buy the cheapest gas I can buy. Today I passed one station for $4.64. Then I bought my gas for $3.75. That is about the cheapest around town. I do not drive all over town to find a good low price. I happened to be passing . Many stations have no price listed and have yellow plastic bags over the handles. By the way, I live in Valdosta, GA.
The first car I owned was a '67 Rambler. It took 20 gals and I paid $5.00.
Dear Frank; Come to think of it I have not heard from Joseph (that is what I call him) in a while. I will call him today and tell him about you. I will let him fill you in on what's up. Aunt Eileen
How can anyone disagree that gas is too high? A great deal of the blame can be laid to politicians, but who wants to get into a political argument here? Drive less! Carpool to Cryan's on First Friday.
I can't be there for the discussion, but here would be my input: Contact Rep Pallone, Sens Lautenburg and Menendez, and Gov Corzine and tell them to wake up regarding off-shore drilling. Their new excuse is that would "endanger the economic and environmental health of the NBJ Shore." With gas going up and up who'll be able to afford to go to the Shore? What then of its economic and environmental health? And contact our all-wise House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, and tell her and her Democrat cronies to get their collective heads out of their a---- and stop their partisan obstructionism regarding this matter. Everybody's to blame, but who else is geared up to provide us with our gasoline? It would be a trade-off even if alternative energies were in force: just a different corporate entity. If money is being made off big oil, who stands to gain off big wind? Or big corn? We are a capitalist society. Be we Republicans, Democrats or Independents, we're all in it for the money, because we gotta live, folks.
The sad truth is that it is an election year don't expect these people who are in power to do anything that they think would help the other political party. So they may just let the American public suffer in order to win the "prize." I say let's send them all packing this November!
Here in Tennessee we are stuck with Al Gore who lives like a "king" burning up the electric bill for heating and cooling his 26,000 square foot home in Bell Meade while making a killing flying around the world talking about Gobal Warming.
l Gore's 'Inconvenient Truth'? -- $30,000 utility bill
Wednesday, February 28, 2007 | 11:08 AM
ABCNews
(2/27/07 - NASHVILLE, TN) -- Back home in Tennessee, safely ensconced in his suburban Nashville home, Vice President Al Gore is no doubt basking in the Oscar awarded to "An Inconvenient Truth," the documentary he inspired and in which he starred. But a local free-market think tank is trying to make that very home emblematic of what it deems Gore's environmental hypocrisy.
Armed with Gore's utility bills for the last two years, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research charged Monday that the gas and electric bills for the former vice president's 20-room home and pool house devoured nearly 221,000 kilowatt-hours in 2006, more than 20 times the national average of 10,656 kilowatt-hours.
"If this were any other person with $30,000-a-year in utility bills, I wouldn't care," says the Center's 27-year-old president, Drew Johnson. "But he tells other people how to live and he's not following his own rules."
Scoffed a former Gore adviser in response: "I think what you're seeing here is the last gasp of the global warming skeptics. They've completely lost the debate on the issue so now they're just attacking their most effective opponent."
$3.53 for gallon of regular today. Yes the Exxon on Pleasant Valley Way and Mt. Pleasant Avenue in West Orange was still $3.99 on Friday. My favorite was Rudy Gadet's Gulf Station on Fourth and Orange. He later worked for Motor Vehicle.
Delta and spartan Gas Stations. 9 cent drop in 10 days. Nice if it dropped to $3.46 by labor Day. just a feeling it will go back up until after the holiday.
Saw three stations on Scotland road in orange all $3.41.9 DELTA, POWER, AND A-1. Almost a seventy cent drop from earlier in the summer. And yet I saw a Shell Station today at $3.66.9. Go figure?
Bob, were you in Toms River today?? Should have called, could have done lunch. Anyway, I rarely go to WAWA for gas. Hess is the same price for cash or credit.
Route 35 Laurence Harbor independent station. I can not recall the name. There were five or six other different independent stations on that road at #3.36.9 Sunday. I remember in early April how angy I was when the price at the local Exxon went from $2.99 to $3.05 over the weekend. If I only knew. Don't prices usually drop after the summer is over?
Gulf station on N.Livingston Avenue, Livingston. Livingston is where our young Mr. Tony Parisi's son Robert Parisi will play his first football game tomorrow for the Mt. Olive Freshman team. No coaching from the sidelines Tony. He called me at 10:30 last night to tell me the poor woman on tv attacked by the pit bull was the aunt of our own Rick Torti. Get better Stella! And I will check prices in Maryland Sunday. We are heading down to Pasadena, Md. Sara McCree Summa SRL' 66 and James Summa SRL 65 beautiful grand daughter is being christened Sunday. Any Montclair State grads out there or grads who live near Baltimore? Have a good weekend..
You know, the amazing part of all of this gas price nonsense is that we're all saying "Wow" to prices still above $3.00/gallon.....Big Oil has us just where they want us.......It's too bad we all couldn't just stop driving for a couple of weeks to put a little dent in their record profits, but unfortunately there isn't much in the way of public transportation down here in Ocean County.......
At least you guys have gas. So many of the stations here in Nashville are having problems getting gas. The price was 3.49 before IKE. Since then it spiked up to $4.19 that was if you could even find a station that had any fuel. Haven't been in gas lines since the 70's back in Newark. The south didn't have that problem back then, so this is very new to them. Everyone down here freaked out! A lot of the problem was caused by people panicking. Some of the DJ'S were telling people to hurry and fill up before the storm hit Texas or they wouldn't be able to buy any gas once it hit. And buy people did just that.At the Friday night football games, they were announcing to the audience which stations were open and actually had any gas. We live 35 miles West of Nashville and we had gas, so everyone came up here. The police were directing traffic at our stations until the gas ran out. Amazingly only 1 person was shot over all of this in Nashville. And that was horrible.
Delta Gas Station on Main Street in Orange, N.J. For Norman Schultz (SRL '61) fans, he was at his usual table hanging out this morning at Dunkin Donuts. $325.9 per gallon is the lowest that I have seen since April. I remember $2.99 april 1, 2008.
I was traveling up to Randolph High School today to see tony parisi's on play football when I could not believe my eyes. A Sunoco on Rt 10 and Franklin was selling regular for $3.17.9 a gallon. I believe it is located in Randolph. Best price in about five months.
After the game I cut across route 53 to go to Tony's cousin's cafe: Mara's Country Desserts
only to see "Wayne's Family World" gas station selling regular for $3.15.9 a gallon. Now we are getting some place.
Vincent said: "It's too bad we all couldn't just stop driving for a couple of weeks to put a little dent in their record profits, but unfortunately there isn't much in the way of public transportation down here in Ocean County..."
From what I've read, we were shocked by large increases, but the effects they had on us have really surprised the oil executives. People actually did change a lot of driving habits and think twice before hopping in the car to go get a bottle of milk. Even the trillionaires in Saudi Arabia have said they think this one has had a permanent affect. People now see a real need for electric cars and hybrids and are not buying SUV's any more. People have decreased their driving an average of 15% (so they say) and that's a big enough change to have to re-think the business plan for oil usage.
So even though we didn't stop driving, as you suggest, the amount we decreased our driving has had an effect big enough to make them realize this won't last forever.
In our area of Georgia most stations have no gas.
Some have not had any for almost two weeks. If
a station receives gas they a line up. Some people
are pushing their cars to the pumps. We receive our
gas from Texas and the pipelines are not working at
full capacity. QT gas stations said yesterday they
hope to have gas in at least 50% of their stations
in a couple of days. The governor's office made a
statement yesterday this should be completely
resolved by October 13th. Last time I got gas was
October 19th paying $4.49 a gallon.
Looking forward to when we get under $3.00. Was in Wilkes-Barre last night and they are at $3.43. Across the street from the Main Street Sunoco in Orange ($3.49) is the early morning
hangout of John's old buddy Norman "Jackie" "Dutch" Schultz. SRL '61. He now goes by the first name "John", not Jackie. I guess this is out of respect for John Crowley, who taught him the art of "hanging out' in July of 1967.
Re: Barbara, that is the best I have heard for NJ.
October 2 2008, 1:26 PM
Passed the WaWa on Fischer again today, it's down to $3.09, the WaWa on Hooper in Silverton is at $3.19.Don't know why the discrepency in price , although they are within 2 miles of each other. Nevertheless, the price is definitely going in the right direction.
I think it's a stretch to suggest the Oil Companies have altered their Business Plan due to the current decrease in demand. Consumers are not applying discipline in their driving habits, in most cases they just can't afford it. The market is so volatile that any news from the Government or Wall Street, or any Global event or crisis in an Oil Producing Country, or more bad weather can alter gas prices on a daily basis. There is no way to gauge what's going to happen. If prices continue to decline, rest assured the American driving public will get back on the roads, especially with the Holidays arriving soon. Just my opinion..............
That's the plan, although no little Bobby Davis.
Bob and I were going to Jimmy Buff's and possibly
a few other stops to help the local economy before
going to Cryan's. I'm happy to report Mr Johnny
Donofrio was called up from the minors to replace
Bob in the lineup on short notice.
Delta on Scotland road in Orange has lowest price for regulat that I have seen in Essex county five and a half months. John, I looked for Norman schultz this morning and he was not at dunkin Donuts as usual. Did you know he now goes by John Schultz? Sign of respect.
During the gas shortage back in the 70s I went into a local gas station and was refused gas because I didn't have the owner's business card. "Have one of these?" Uhhhh...no. "Sorry. No gas."
Remember getting appointments to filler up? One to two hour lines. Day light savings in the winter months. School closed an extra week in January. Thermostats set at 58 degrees
in super markets and stores. Kids wearing their coats in school. 35 years to work on this and where are we now? Makes you wonder.
Delta Scotland road Orange today $3.09.0 regular Norman "John" Schultz was at his table by the door this morning at 7:30 am dunkin donuts main Street orange. SRL 61
Eyewitness News this morning reported stations in Jersey City, Newark, Hillside, and Bogota selling regular at $2.99.9 a gallon for regular. I need to see this for myself.
Same station. 4 cents less than yesterday. I am so glad we have this thread, John. Everyone can see how the gas prices are changing. Our friends around the country can also get an idea what is happening here.
He goes by John Schultz now. I believe out of respect for you, John. he was sitting alone at "his" table at 6:30 am this morning at the dunkin donuts on Main Street in Orange. The old Orange Tower. Wish I could text message the picture I took of him on my cell phone.
last Norman "jackie" "John" "Dutch" Schultz post for a long, long whil
October 7 2008, 10:08 AM
If anyone would like a picture of norman just send me a text message 973 518 2658 and I will picture message him to you. I am going to drop it now. Norman-mania is coming to a close. It has run its course. My sister has the picture and was speechless. he looks really good for 60 years old seriously. Was a nice gentle kid and is now a nice gentleman, despite being humg by his ankles in 1967.
Yesterday I filled up the van for $3.35 a gal of the 87 here in Valdosta, GA. The other two had yellow bags. Today it was $3.32. Buying gas lately has been like playing the slot machines. Pay your money and take your chances. Eileen
I like it! 22 cents drop in 8 days. Sweet. But we are still about 13 cents a gallon more than this time last year. This Delta station on Scotland road is very small and next to a Getty at the intersection of Central Avenue. But they are always 5 or 6 cents cheaper than a
Delta Station three blocks away. It is so interesting to hear from our friends around the country what is going on with gas prices and availability there. Very revealing to read this thread from top to bottom.
Last night I passed by the Hess on Hooper Ave, in Toms River, and gas was at $3.01. I'll check the 2 WaWas that I pass going to Mass tomorrow. They usually are somewhat cheaper than others around here. You may get your wish Frank, and have gas under $3.00 by Halloween. Are all the gas stations in N.Jersey under $3.00 yet? At least the prices of gas are going in the right direction.
Today regular was $2.85.9 at the Scotland Road, Orange, NJ Delta. Watch food prices and clothing begin the same price drop. Price war coming up. I am on my way to Uncle Sam's Shoes and Feinsmith's Men's Clothing Store.
$279.6 per gallon of regular at the Scotland Road Delta. There are rumors of $263.9 at three stations in Bogota, N.J. and one in Teaneck, N.J. where the price was $2.83.9 a week ago. Average price was $2.76 this time last year. Still too high. Jay Leno said gas is $3.30 in L.A.. And to think, I was hoping for $3.00 by halloween.
Here in the land of political absurdity where
they can tax anything for the good of all New
Jersey, Trentonians can pay cash $2.77 or $2.86
credit from friendly camel jockies Mujibar or
Nejatallah on Broad Street.
$271.9 for gallon of regular. Can't keep up like this, can it? It would be something like $1.55.9 a gallon by Thanksgiving, if my Our Lady of Good counsel math is correct? We are actaully 4 or 5 cents lower than this time last year.
Political absurdity is exactly right. The powers that be in Trenton never met a tax they didn't like. The more they tax us, the more jobs they can dole out to their inlaws and outlaws, many of whom would be otherwise unemployable. And their antics continue, even in the face of indictments (and convictions) that seem to rain down without end. Someone on another thread recently mentioned a circus; Trenton has one that runs all year.
$2.65/9 regular. Orange Delta, I heard some disturbing news that OPEC may be limiting distribution of gas to drive prices back up. Before that happens, I am hoping to see sub-$2.50 prices.
As a matter of fact, I did. Every weekday morning he sits at a table with his back to the window facing the drive-in at the Main Street Orange, N.J. Dunkin-Donuts. I saw the back of his head this morning at about 6:45 am. He no longer goes by Norman, Jackie, Dutch, Stormrn Norman, or Snakeyes. He calls himself John. Class of 196l SRL. He does not have a car and works in a women's Dress Store. I have his picture on my cell. How do I get it to you to put on the site? This picture says it all.
I realize there are three stations in Union that are 8 cents lower. What I am doing is monitoring the price at the same gas station everyday. Four weeks ago. $3.29.9 was the lowest in Essex County. I will stop the day the price goes up. And to Bob and John. Norman, Jackie, Dutch, JOHN Schultz was at his regular table this morning at dunkin donuts at 6;30 am. Someone was actually sitting with him. Gas is about 17 cents a gallon lower than last year at this time.
Checking out the same service station everyday for last month. 76 cents drop in 29 days!!!!Now $2.53.9 per gallon of regular. Orange Scotland Road Delta Station. And for you Norman Schultz fans, he was sitting at his regular table at Dunkin donuts at 6:15 this morning.
Under $2.50!!! $2.49.9 per gallon of regular on Scotland road. 80 cent drop in just 30 days. I was hoping for $2.99.9 by halloween When was the last time gas was this cheap?.
I found an article in the US News and World Report dated March 7, 2007 stating that gas prices in the U.S. had RISEN to an average of $2.505 per gallon of regular. The author was complaining that prices had risen TWELVE cents in just one week. So I can assume that prices were $2.38 in late February of 2007. From what I can figure we are at our lowest prices in almost nineteen months. I would like to see, as everyone else, that prices continue to fall. Now if only the price of beer would dip as well.
$2.47.9 for gallon regular at Scotland Road Delta Orange, N.J.this morning.
$2.65.9 in Reading, Pa. yesterday
Saw a $2.45.9 at Delta on Valley Street in Maplewood while wading through flood last evening.
Norman "John" Schultz was sitting alone at "his" table at 7:45 am at the Main Street Orange Dunkin Donuts. He was looking out the window at workmen putting letters on front of "Gentlemen's Club".
But we went down another 4 cents to $2.43.9 cents per gallon of regular. I think that comes to an 86 cent decrease in 33 days. hope we can get down to what Georgians are paying pretty soon. Thanks for the update. Now, I'm jealous.
Hess on Hooper Av., Toms River, has reg. for $2.31. It's all going in the right direction so we shouldn't complain too much, although I do like the prices is Ga..
Dropped another 6 cents today at the station I have been monitoring Delta on Scotland Road, Orange. #2.37.9 for gallon of regular. 92 cents drop in five week 35 days. And to think, I was hoping for under three dollars by halloween. National average was $2.37 the last week of February 2007. Took us 20 months to get back there. Norman Schultz absent last two days? We have a long way to go to get to Georgia's price and still trail Toms River.
Scotland Road Delta dropped another 6 cents today. Down to $2.31.9 for gallon of regular. I bet they read this web site and want to keep up with stations down the shore. We are at Janurary 2007 prices. Sad note: no Norman Schultz the last three days. I am checking the neighborhood to see if anyone is hanging him by his feet from a second floor porch.
Hess, Hooper Ave, Toms River,$2.29 as of 2pm today. I bought gas there this morning at 7am, it was $2.31.Debated whether or not to wait until this afternoon, just in case it would go down, it did. This is the first time in a while that I paid less than $40.00 for a full tank.
$2.27.9 per gallon in
Essex County, N.J. Scotland Soad , Orange, N.J. Delta has dropped $1.02. per gallon in 39 days. This morning spotted Norman "Jackie" Schultz at "his"table at the Main
Street Orange Dunkin Donuts. He was joined by his Sunday partner, a Phillip Seymour Hoffman look-alike. They are fortunate that management does not toss them out for tying up a table for hours. Perhaps they are in charge of providing diversity to ther establishment. Wonder if he will come to Frist Friday this week?
Essex County still is far behind Union in the price war.
$2.23.9 per gallon in Orange, N.J., As interesting is the $2.29.9 price at the Exxon on Prospect Avenue in West Orange. Jackie boy was reading the paper and milking a cup of coffee at "his' table at 6:30 am. Hope he comes Friday to renew old friendship with Mr. Lorenzo and Mr. Crowley. I am going to look for his picture with class of 61.
I read the gas prices almost every day. We have our own gas (stock) market. Tomorrow I will be leaving for FL to see Patricia Grabowy Barone'55 and her husband Frank. He went to Vo Tec between 1st & 2nd on Sussex Ave. ( I know this has nothing to do with gas) On Fri I paid $3.36 and today it is $3.25 in Valdosta, Ga. Wonder what it will be in FL. Eileen
$2.19 at Delta, yet $2.55 at Sunoco up the street. How is Joe Grabowy doing? Never forget the night we came back from New York in 1964 and he got caught running 6 lights on Ferry Street. A PBA card from officer Barone made the ticket go away. Thanks John for keeping your tremendous site non political. The very interesting past election could have turned this site into a 3 ring circus. Watch ESPN tomorrow at 7:30 pm and see young Al Wujciak # 33
starring at linebacker for Maryland vs. Virginia Tech.
Hey Rosario, I was wondering when you would check back in. Congratulations on starting the longest thread at Bodholt's! We better see you at the Christmas party, cugino.
$2,17.9 today. Interesting is that surrounding stations that were 5 to 5 cents more than Delta are now also $2.17.9. Exxon is even $2.19. I am going to stop posting the first time prices go up. It is interesting how reall the Pa. to Roseville connection is.
$2.33 in Wilkes-Barre yesterday. After the game hung out at Tony Parisi's with Tony, Rick Torti and Dennis Barbiere class of 65 boys. Tony and his lovely wife Donna honored Rick and his wonderful girfriend Eileen with a dinner to celebrate Rick's moving to a beautiful home in South Jersey. Always on the go, Rick is playing golf today in Virginia with the always popular Paul Sullivan ECHS "69. Norman "Jackie" "John" Schultz spotted this morning at dunkin donuts. The class of 1961 SRL grad now sports a beard. an interesting look.
At the WaWa on Hooper Ave., Toms River, gas is $2.01, My Hess on Hooper Ave,$2.03, Jack has to check in with Liberty's stats on Rt. 37 West in Toms River, will post when I know. Is it possible that we'll reach $1.50 by Christmas??
I had a last minute minor emergency and missed Frist Friday. The football team my son coaches lost again. A former colleague was arrested in Dc for urinating on the crowd at a concert in a nightclub. It is drawing national attention due to his being a councilman and charter school founder. And the biggest downer of all, the gas price only dropped 2 cents today to $2.05. We drag well behind Toms River.
$2.01.9 per gallon at Orange Delta. $2.05.9 in West Orange. My wife filled up an empty tank for $24.00 yesterday, about half price from the summer.
I have learned many things on this fantastic web site, but two more recently. SRL turnerd out several women who had successful careers in politics and quite a few Rosevillites are transplanted Keystone Staters.
John, perhaps there is enough for two chapters in your book. From Scrasnton to Roseviile could be one. From the halls of Roses to City Hall could be another. I also like all the information you uncovered on the city subway, Dr. Berg, Moe Berg, and the Tivoli Thearter.
$1.93.9 at Orange Delta this morning. Norman Schultz sitting alone at his table at 7 am at dunkin Donuts. Yesterday $1.91 in Camden, N.J., $2.05 in Chester, Pa. and $1.85 in Westampton, N.J. exit 5 Turnpike. When will it end? Got coupons in the mail from Whole foods, $10 off with $50 purchase and 15% off from Kohl's. Keep them coming.
$1.89.9 for regular If anyone hears of any special bargains on other products. lets us know please. Times are tough. We need to stick together. I heard on the radio this morning to expect great sales at many stores. Norman Shultz has not had a hair cut in months now. A new look. Mrs. Parisi remembers him from 4th grade. I think gas prices have been cut in half since this thread was started. One of the few bright lights in this economy. I hope this thread keeps going indefinitely. Thank you, John.
$2.18 difference in just over four months. More than 50% drop. Who could have seen that coming. I believe john's suggest to drive less and car pool did the trick!
We are not the cheapest, but we do have Norman Jackie Dutch Storming Norman Snake eyes Schultz holding court every morning at 6 am at the dunkin donuts. he provides the only diversification at any table. I can't help remembering all the little kids he bullied on fourth Street. But John avenged their suffering in 1967. I hope one morning Jimmy and John can come up to say hello..
Shop Rite put them on sale this morning for $114.00, $35 discount for having a free Shop Rite Card. A pretty nice Chirstmas gift. Sign of the time: 15 people were lined up when the store opened at 7 am today. The additional points also gave us a free turkey.
Hess, Hooper Ave.,Toms River,is now at $1.65, I think I asked awhile back if it's possible for it to be $1.50 by Christmas...maybe I wasn't too far off.
Couldn't believe my eyes at the gas pump yesterday when I filled up my Nissan Altima which was almost on "E" for only $28. Hope we're all as lucky with the stock market changing it's direction also! LAD
$163.9 in Dickson, Tn. I,too, filled up my Toyota Previa for $28.00 today. It was on E. Thank you Lord that the gas prices are coming down! I drive anywhere from 150 to 250 miles a day when our son is home from school.
On the day before the busiest travel day of the year down another 2 cents in Orange to $1.71. $1.48 down in 62 days. Wish everything else dropped by as much. $1.50 by Christmas, I hope so.
We will go by Tennessee prices if they continue to be the lowest. $1.67 in Orange today. $1.52 drop in 65 days. A few more cents and the price of gas would have been cut in half since September. I think it has been about a $2.40 drop since the 4th of July. Thank you Ros for getting it all going.
More than a 2 cents per day reduction since September 24, 2008 @ the Delta Station on Scotland Road in Orange. I stayed with this station because except for 2 days, it has been the cheapest gas in Orange/West Orange. 6 more cents down and the price will have dropped in half since September 24th.
ABC News said that the average nayional gas price of $1.71 is the lowest in five years. you started it all Rosario. Take a bow. I saw $1.51 at Deltas in Hudson County twice yesterday.
After 80 days of prices dropping, the Delta WENT UP 2 cents today from $1.47 to $1.49, while the Spartan dropped from $!.51 to $$1.47. Hard to figure what is going on here. Norman Schultz was not around for an explanation. Jackie never got a license to drive.
After two weeks @ $1.49, prices dropped a dime yesterday to $1.39. Norman Schultz sitting alone @ 7 am at "his" table at Orange Main Street Dunkin Donuts. He sits closest to door to allow short walk to go outside for cigarette break. Ankle-injury in boyhood.
Story in sunday Star ledger local edition about plans to close Roseville Branch of Newark library. Sad story. City found over 3 million dollars to renovate Boys Park and tennis courts, but can not keep library open. I hope someone will post story.
As John pointed out the gas companies love to raise price right before a holiday. Saw Norman Schultz standing outside Dunkin Donuts at 6:30 am smoking. He ackowledged me as I drove past him to go to drive-in window. Well he is there early eveyr morning in case an old classmate wants to get in touch.
If that's a hint, Frank, I'll try to stop by and see him some morning. If he recognizes me and flees in abject terror, well, at least I will have tried. Can't see him running very fast with those bad ankles, though.
Just what we need Frank, another Dunkin Donuts. Jackie might migrate up there with you if he hears of your new venue. I'll let him know if I see him. If I recognize him, that is.
Norman Schultz sitting alone at his table in Dunkin Donuts looking out the window as life passes him by. Perhaps his life is that table by the window at the store on Main Street in orange a few hundred feet from the West Orange border. Known as the Orange Tower in the 60's, it was a hangout for Valley students. Today it is Norman's fortress of solitude.
I'm really p----d off, my favorite Hess is now UP to $1.49. What's the problem here?? Hasn't the price of oil been coming down? Something's not right here.
West Orange Exxon went up 4 cents overnight to $1.77. I know three people with families who lost their jobs this week. When this stimulus plan goes into effect, I have one suggestion. All hirees must be citizens and tax payers of the United States of America. I do not mean this to be political, just some old fashion common sense.
But I won't. I ended his thread. I am totally disgusted. Won't let anyone help him, but content to sit at table all day , every day and do absolutely nothing. Saw at 6 am today, still there 7 pm, 13 hours of sitting and staring. There is a beautiful library just four blocks away.: books, dvds, cds, computers. But he would rather sit at table and do nothing. fine.
Saw Mr. Schultz sitting there into his 13th hour at the same table....I told him everyone wanted to see him Friday night and gave him $10 for train fare. It is the third stop from Orange and then a one block walk to Cryans. Several people posted as to how they could help. Well show up Friday night and ask him. If he takes the money and spends it for food, instead of train fare, then thats good too. win/win. He is there at the same table at the Dunkin Donuts Main Street and N. Jefferson Orange NJ, every blessed day from 6 am to 8 pm.
When it gets warmer, he usually leaves about 10:30 am. We will see Friday.
Nice work John!!!! Re: Norman, very quietly people from the diner have been helping out the Dutchman. They are doing it, not to call up newspapers to have stories written about themselves, but just because it is the right thing to do. The Jackster is honoring their wishes by keeping their names and good deeds anonymous. Good job diner patrons. His "office hours" remain 6:30 am to 10:30 am Dunkin Donuts, Main Street and N. Jefferson Street, Orange , NJ. second traffic light from exit 10 route 280.
Nice work John keeping the cost of gas frozen at the same price. A belated thank you for using the influence of this site to get the city to keep the Roseville Library open. The attention you allowed me to give to a certain '61 graduate has been responsible for an improvement in his quality of life. Did you see the Westinghouse plant on Orange Street has been leveled? Keep up the good work. See you at the May 1 First Friday, out of town next week. If you get a spare momnet, take a look at "how Newark became Newark".
After a 38 day freeze, prices jumped six cents. Exxon $1.83, Delta $1.79. Just as the weather gets nice. Coincidence? The class of 61 grad says thanks for the Dunkin Donuts gift cards.
There are Delta Stations in Orange and West Orange who sell regular for $1.799 per gallon, but I like the Exxon on Prospect Street in West Orange. The owner George from Albania is a real cool guy and his gas jockey is a big oldies fan and someone in my family has an Exxon gas card as a company benefit. I can live with $1.85 per gallon this summer.
The West Orange Prospect Street Exxon today actually cut the price of regular 4 cents to $1.85. I can not remember the last time gas prices dropped. I hope this is an omen of good things to come. Whoever heard of gas prices dropping the day before a nice weather holiday? Now there is another Exxon on Pleasant Valley Way and Mt. Pleasant Avenue that is $1.99 for regular and they can go take a long walk off a short pier. The Delta in Orange is $1.79, but who wants to go down there? I will drop by Dunkin Donuts tomorrow to say Happy Easter to Norman Schultz. If you want to see an Easter picture of Norm, e-mail me your cell phone number to frankmccree@hotmail.com and I will send you his picture.
I am trying to get Joseph Grabowy of Third Street SRL '60 Essex Catholic '64 to come to the next First Friday. He and I
talk on Facebook.
Went away this weekend to Maryland to visit the McCree-Summa-Brown Family and when I got back my neighborhood station had sky rocketed EIGHTEEN CENTS over Mothers Day Weekend to $2.09. Biggest increase ever, maybe.
Note the timing: a big weekend for driving.
Got to see Yankees lose to Orioles 11-5, which made my grand-niece happy. Ate in Ewing, N.J. Sunday night on way home at Firkin Tavern in Ewing. Isn't that Jimmy Egan's stomping grounds? Ewing.
Firkin's? Right across from there in the same
development is "Sal De Forte's" a former landmark
from the "Burg" in Trenton. They just moved there
within the last year.
Firkin's is in the dart league. Conrad Daniels shoots there.
Who's Conrad? The only American world champion ever in darts.
He beat all the odds and won it in the mid 70's. Nice bar huh?
Check out the pictures on their web site. Wow!We first went to the Italian place you mentioned, but there was a long wait. After 15 years in West Long Branch, Belmar, and Lake Como, my son moved to Southfork last September.
Lukoil stations on the Parkway are at 2.00 9/10. They can only change prices once a month! I've been filling up for 2 weeks at that price. Turnpike might be the same. BD
Besides the beautiful Jersey shore, we are the only state where our gas is pumped for us. We may have the lowest gas prices, not sure. But I thought the coast of living was outrageous to our visit to Paris. 3 Euros for a coke the equivalent of 12 ounces ( about $6.00). Guess it is all reletive. $500 to sit behind home plate at Yankee Stadium, $28 in Clevleand.
My Exxon held the line @ $2.45, though next door neighbor Sunoco went to $2.47. Heard national average is $2.66. About a $1.25 less than this time last year, but it has really gone up past few months.
Hi: I got my tank filled up at a Gulf Station, on COlumbia Turnpike, East Hanover, and it was the cheapest around at $2.49.9 a gallon. Most of our stations are at $2.67 and above around here. (Morris County)
My local station is of interest to me. If there is a station in another county cheaper. God bless them.
I have been going to my local station for 29 years and appreciate their service. If I break down or can't start my car, they are there, not a station in Camden.
Heard on the news this morning that the average price of gas nation-wide dropped from $2.66 to $2.64 last week. This was the first drop in prices in 9 months. I expect a rise at the end of the week as drivers gas up for holiday weekend and the drive to Cryan's.
$2.27. Still upset over the rumored sale of a Dicky Dees. Bruno was a boyhood idol. Not a Jimmy buff boy, but their West orange store is selling doubles every Tuesday for the price of a single. Did you see the Town Pub, Jimmy? They tore out a wall on the side street and put in three double doors. They were open tonight and the pub was an open air cafe. Different look.
Gas was 2.29 Sat morning. Today on the way to work, it was 3.39. Twenty cents in 2 days is outragious. That was at all the stations in 22 in the Union area.
