Vinnie Falcetano will be our DJ at the party this year, and I happen to know he has a most comprehensive song library and is a first-rate platter spinner. I thought it would be interesting to make a note of songs we'd like to hear so that Vinnie can get an idea of what sort of requests we'll be throwing at him that night. I could come up with a few dozen favorites but I'll limit my requests to three:
Soulfinger (The Bar-Kays)
P.S. I Love You (The Beatles), and of course
I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman (Whistling Jack Smith)
No problem, John. If anyone else attending the Christmas Party has any requests for specific songs, please post them here. I'll be glad to play them. I'll be sure to dust off my old 45's. Also, come on, SRL Class of 68.....Bob D. and I expect to see all of you that night. I couldn't think of a better way to usher in the Holidays! See Everyone then.
Great idea John. Vinny, one song comes to mind. The Impossible Dream! That was the Class of '68's Graduation song. In honor of our 40th Anniversary, the Class of '68 officially challenges any and all comers to the title of Most Attendees to this years Party. Let's go '68 !!!
Vin, Bob,
This will be like taking candy from a baby. Class of '68 will kick butt (we were close last year)
Vin, Please no "Tommy James and the Shondells" I remember beaning you with my boot from my top bunk when you would sing that song at camp.
Smoke on the Water (live from Japan-not studio version)
Spirit in the Sky --Norman Greenbaum
Chicago --CSNY Four Way Street
(Those ought to keep you busy for a while)
PS Bobby D, Impossible Dream was OUR song from Sr. Regina's class-- you guys in Sr. Damian's class just mushed the words to "See you in Septemeber" into "We WON'T see you in September"-- what did that take? about three minutes?
On second thougth, forget it. Class of '68 must show unity!
Jonsey,
I can't promise I won't play any Tommy James....I may have to sing "Crystal Blue Persuasion" myself! We'll have to produce the reclusive Steven Scott for that one!(LOL)
Keep those requests coming............
Margaret Petrocelli is right! Ya gotta have "Old Blue Eyes" as part of the musical line-up. I can't make it to the party but I can see the line dance to "New York, New York.
Bob, the Impossible Dream was not the song of Sister Regina's class of '68. We had some lame song Love a Seranade to You. The song Impossible Dream was sung by both classes at graduation. Good thing Vinny will be running the music at the Christmas party. See you there.
My request is my favorite Christmas song "All I Want for Christmas is You"
but the original not by Meriah Carey. Hopefully then I can count on at least one dance with Donny. Love to you and the girls, Linda
"Jingle Bell Rock" reminds me of DiPaolo's Bakery on Bloomfield Avenue. Every Christmas season they put a little mechanical Santa on the upper counter and it plays that song nonstop. I think the people who work there must hate that song by the second day!
Linda, I have a version of "All I want for Christmas is You" sung by "Vince Vance and the Valiants". I will be happy to play it, and if Donald won't dance with you, I Will!! Talk to you soon.
How's about-Dion (the Wanderer), Runaround Sue, Mustang Sally (forgot who sang it-senior moment!) some 4 Seasons-Stay-Jay Black, Cara Mia! Oh-lots of Beatles!!!!!!!!!!!! AND-Bon Jovi-You want to make a Memory!
Vinnie, we can't have a reunion without a little Chicago, Grand Funk, Sly and the Family, Doobie Brothers, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, and gotta have some Stones and a bit of the "British Invasion"! Pleeeeeeze.
Hey Patti,
You forgot about one of our favorite groups....Earth, Wind & Fire!.......and for you Giants Fans, I'm not talking about Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward, and Amhad Bradshaw!
Right you are Vinnie. Bob, Vin, Denise and I have been to two concerts of Earth, Wind and Fire, one with Chicago and one with The Doobie Brothers, and they've still got it! Great entertainment.
