I collect old Ball mason jars with my favorites being those made for Bamberger's and Hahnes dept. stores. Well I just found my first “Roseville” jar and one I've never seen before. It's an old Ball jar (circa 1923-1933) made for Hooton Cocoa. The factory was at 351 North Fifth Street and I believe was still there in the sixties. Does anyone remember it?

Hooton Factory Cartoon

Somewhere - my uncle Jack Carson wrote a letter to the newspaper about Hooton- and a cartoon was printed along with the letter- I had brought the original to a First Friday for one reason or another and forgot it- it would be wonderful to add it here!

Lived at 321 No. 7th and from our backyard you could see the factory. Everytime we smelled the chocolate, my mother would say "it is going to rain, you can smell the chocolate today", sure enough it would rain at some point that day!!
