Hi Renee,
I was good friends with the Worry's. You have a good memory. Lived across the street from them on North Eleventh. They were at 207 and we were 198.
Nice to hear from you. I am teaching in town, have three children, and run around Motown like a chicken without a head. How are you doing? Probably just as crazed.
hi, some things i do remember which amazes the heck outta me as i get older! i was caregiving to parents, both gone now, am divorced, no 2 footed kids,2 beautiful Borzoi (russian wolfhounds) had 3 up to 9/7, 2 parakeets, do payroll for private nursing home, still keep finger on pulse of drum corps, was member of staff who helps color guard for Caballeros until 2003 when Mom got bad. am card carrying hair dresser but not in practice anymore, am certified ceramic teacher (1st love) had to stop to caregive & hope to resume classes again in next yr out of home, do lots of other crafts, scrapbook & LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Harry Potter! that be it. otherwise boring. work, home,...
love the fact i can walk down memory lane on this site. i am so grateful to john. good to talk to more & more classmates. interesting to see how we all turned out. most of us somewhat sane, (not egan or davis) but don't tell them................:)
Barb, I too hung around with the Worrys. Michael, more than Maureen. I tried to email Maureen Worry (from her email on our site) but it came back, so I assumed it has changed or just listed incorrectly. Anyway, I heard Michael is a priest. Any one know how we can locate him....Take care....
The Worlds Fair Beanies! What I would give to have kept mine! or had a camera that day! The CYO Day at the Fair was something else in the history of StRose
I do recall seeing groups of Black and White habits over at the Schaefer Beer Pavillion!
is that sis maureen francis? i kinda rem her. i know i thought she was beautiful.she was my best teacher there along with Mrs. Lannon & Ms Gilhooly.
i remember we (not too sure who was in our "group") got lost & we HAD to meet at 6p somewhere in order to catch the bus i believe. we spent more time getting our sense of direction that we missed things at that fair. i think we missed more then saw because of the deadline.i still regret it to that day.
see what i mean jim, bob, ro & billy when i told you i get lost going around the corner? perfect example.........
john, obviously i am not working today (boss is off), i have some old pics from srl. i don't know how to get to you if i don't have tech equipt. i know i have 1 of ms gilhooly, kindergarten class & few others i would love you to have (not originals, i scp book). mail them?
hi john, will do. use the bonaire email? i will bring in as soon as i finish cleaning my craft area & have my IT guy here at work scan for me, i know how to attach & send to you from there. I am soooooooooooo pc illiterate!
thanks
Top picture, Sr, Alexandra in the middle?
Margaret Cullinane above her. I can't really see
the rest. I think the nun on the left is the one who
always had "rosy" cheeks.
Second picture: Maureen Worry on left, Dee O Rourke
in middle (and someone's gonna hate me for this but?)
Phil Silvers in drag (Sgt, Bilko). Huh???
I found this pictures at my mom's. It is definitely Maureen and DeeDee. I have no idea who the other gal is....And I am drawing a blank with the nun picture. They had to have been my friends if I took their picture! Oh well.
I know Michael Worry was a brother up here at Delbarton. Friends of mine knew him when their sons were there. He was apparently one heck of a character. He is no longer at Delbarton. I lost contact with Maureen as soon as we went to HS.
John, thanks for posting the pictures. What a kick!
The Phil Silvers show aired 1955 -1959, then ran
as reruns in early 60's.Sgt. Bilko was the character
Phil Silvers played. When you were homw sick it would be on.
The girl on the right in the picture with the two nuns is my old friend Mary Cordero. She lived at 46 North Sixth Street. She left I think after Mrs. Foti's class in the fourth grade. She moved to West Orange & I never heard from her.
The nun on the left is either Sr. Anne Zachary or Sr. Michella. Michael Worry is the Pastor of a Catholic Church in Linden. His sister Maureen lives in Linden also. She works for Archie Schwartz Realtors. BD
Michael, Father Benedict Worry OSB, is pastor
of Saint Elizabeth's in Linden on Hussa Street.
They (the parish) is celebrating their 100th
anniversary this year.
I am quite surprised to hear that. Michael was always such a friendly kid, always willing to help & he knew early on he would be a priest. I can't understand that, him being a member of the cloth & all. So, when he gives sermons, does he tell everyone where he grew up or not????????
