Two years ago a St. Lucy Parishoner told met that Msgr Granato had passed the mandatory retirement age, but he was granted a one-year extension.

Poor St. Rose of Lima. The Archdicese did a special collection for the religious retirement fund and raised $635,902.19.
Out of approximately 270 parishes St. Rose of Lima turned in the lowest amount $120. Even Queen of the Angels in one of the poorest areas of Newark collected $900. Cryan's own parish, Our Lady of Sorrows, was very generous with $3,147.17. A couple of Bergen County churches raised over $12,000, naturally.
