I would like to know if there are any Garfield School graduates out there. I graduated in January 1959. I lived on No. 7th St. across from the school. Bill Radice lived 2 houses away from me. (Hi Bill). What brought you to Tennessee?

:::: You have got to be the oldest friend I've ever found on the net. So far back that my memories are pretty foggy. I know we grew up together and saw each other probably every day....

What brought me to Tennessee? Mainly the weather in NJ was so awful I couldn't stand to retire there, so I came to the TN valley. I'm retired 2 1/2 years now.
turning 65 next month...so I imagine you are too. That likely makes it about 50 years at least since we last spoke.

GARFIELD SCHOOL

April 4 2009, 2:14 PM

I ATTENDED GARFIELD SCHOOL FROM THE FIFTH TO THE EIGHTH GRADE, AND WOULD HAVE GRADUATED IN FEBRUARY 1945. I FINISHED THE LAST HALF OF THE EIGHTH GRADE, AND GRADUATED FROM, SOUTH 8TH STREET SCHOOL THE SAME YEAR.
GARFIELD SCHOOL HAD EXCELLENT TEACHERS ALL DURING MY TIME THERE. I REMEMBER MR.CAPRIO THE PLAYGROUND INSTRUCTOR, MS. SHEPPARD THE PRINCIPAL, MR. BAER THE GYM TEACHER, MR. REGAN THE MANUAL TRAINING INSTRUCTOR AND MANY OF THE TEACHERS.
I WOULD HAVE GONE TO BARRINGER HIGH SCHOOL BUT BECAUSE WE HAD MOVED I HAD TO ATTEND WEST SIDE HIGH SCHOOL.
IT WOULD BE INTERSTING IF ANYONE REMEMBERS THAT PERIOD AND IF ANY ATTENDEES ARE STILL ALIVE. i AM 79 YEARS OF AGE.

Hey Mr. Davis,
It's nice to see your name on the BD Board. I've been keeping tabs on you through Bob, as I hope he has told you I ask about you often. I hope this note finds you well. Hopefully, I'll see you sometime soon. Keep taking care of yourself and God Bless....

Vinnie

Hey Mr D

Nice to see your name here. I was in the Lancers with you. I was best friends(still am) with Gail Gilmartin. I was the one who passed out a lot. I see pictures of your son on this website. He looks exactly like you. I am more 20 years younger than you are and I can't remember any of my teacher. Maybe it was from all that passing out. ☺ :-) Good for you for remembering those names. Keep well.

I graduated from Garfield in 1970. Started there in the 2nd grade. Miss Lottaraco (2) Miss Nesto (3) Miss Lupo (my favorite! looked like Marlo Thomas) (4) Miss Keyes (5) Mr West (worse teacher! lol) (6) Mr MacFarland (coolest teacher I ever had in my life!) (7) and can't recall my 8th! weird, I know! great school thru-out! and many great friends! my mother refused to let me goto Barringer so my 2 brothers and myself went to Bloomfield Tech for 4 yrs! also a great school! actually raising 2 boys out here in southern Cal. I feel bad for them cause' not one of them were even close to the schools back home! Colleges are excellent tho'

Alma Mater of New York Yankee secondbaseman Robinson Cano.

Great to see opening of the baseball season, even if our New York Yankees lost to my sister's Orioles.
