This has run before, but I like this old postcard image of Weequahic Lake (or is it Lake Weequahic?) primarily because it depicts our own Son of Weequahic, Don Scher, courting Roseville gal Doris Flatley in a canoe. That's Don waving to the camera.

I remember going to see the trotters run on the Weequahic Park Race Track, Memorial Day 1955.
The last Bambergers's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thanksgiving Eve, telecast on local televison with John charles Dailey announcing. They paraded around the very same Weequahic Park rack.
September 1989 seeing my son play a freshman football game at Weequahic Park against Weequahic High School.
Many a summer's afternoon in the early 70's having lunch and a brew with co-workers at a Frelinghysen Avenue establishment named "The lamp Post". Had a summer job visiting supermarkets for Gerber Babyfood then.
Since we were mainly Roseville people, I only went to Weequahic race track once. My Grandfather took us there; to the hill overlooking the track and had us dig for indian head pennies buried in the lawn. We found lots of them. I guess people who could not get into the track would sit on the hill and place their bets. This was around 1957.
