Sad to see and hear all of the Bozos on televison who constantly refer to this weekend as the official start of the summer season or "barbecue weekend" and nothing else. We all know that it means something else a lot more important. A shame.

Yes, you are right. my sister margaret send me "cartoons" that refer to what this holiday truly means. i do payroll so lots of ee's come here. i printed them & hung them on the door going OUT & low by the door knob so they stop, see it & REALLY read it. it's the best i can do to remind people.

When I was a principal I impressed on my students the true meaning of Memorial Day and Veterans Day. I wonder how many people will put the hamburgers away and visit the graves of deceased relatives who were veterans? On my list, I have my dad, Jeanne's dad and grandfather and two uncles. They secularized Christmas and made it XMAS and Happy Holidays. They took away Washington's Birthday and Lincoln's too. Now they tell us Columbus was no big thing. We need never to let the true meaning of Memorial Day be orgotten.

It is unfortunate that many of the younger people.and especially imigrants to this country. have no idea what Memorial Day means.The problem is History as we knew it is not taught anymore.And while I am on a small roll, we should all speak AMERICAN ENGLISH.
