Please don't take it personally if, in response to invites, I don't join any of the social networking sites to check out friends' pages. I dislike signing up for anything I don't have to, and anyway I've had my own social networking site for years (it's called Bodholt's Diner). I don't mean any disrespect.
But not everyone I know or knew grew up in Roseviile. My niece in Maryland asked me to join facebook last year. I now have 120 other "friends". Some are relatives in other parts of the country. Some are former students of mine, who never would have found me without facebook. Others include 30 former staff members living all over the country and in the U.K. and in Africa. Also heard from two players I coached in the 1970;s.I sometimes find it boring, but usually fascinating. It is nice to see how people are doing, without wasting time chit-chatting on the phone. Unlike the phone, it is FREE. My nephew told me My space is last year, facebook is now and next year there will be something else. To each his own. But facebook has grown in popularity in the over 40 age group..
John, it speaks well of you that you have people inviting you to join their networks. I know some people who have never been invited by anyone to join anything. I just did a little survey and 23 of the people on my list are over 50 years old. Most are bewteen 30 and 39. To each his own and I respect your beliefs.
