Sure, I remember Ting-a-Ling's, on the southeast corner of Bloomfield Ave & 3rd St. The yellow exterior, and the car wash in back. Right across from the City Subway. The other three corners at that intersection all had gas stations. I was a Newark police officer, and walked a night beat in that area for awhile in the early 1970's. Plenty of Goodfellas up there.
Yeah I grew up in the late sixties, It was a great hangout then. although the cops would move us along all the time. My father was also a cop in Newark 13th precinct. I would hide when the cops came cuz they knew who I was. Is ting-a-lings still there. Haven't been it that area for many years.
Long gone, although old Louie's son (not so young himself these days) was doling out the original formula ice from a hole in the wall storefront on an erratic schedule until recently. (he actually owns the entire block). Great lemon ice! The foot-long hot dog was also a winner.
