You are right Laura. Joe Bilby is one of our greatest assets. I recently purchased a signed copy of his book on Asbury Park. Excellent....extremely informative. I urge everyone to get a copy. Next book....A History of Roseville? How 'bout it Joe? John? BD
contacted his publisher and with his help, got a copy of his asbury park book... excellent read Joe!!!
btw: last sighting was at the university of dayton's history dept... even I can't pry it back... some talk about it being used in an upper division history class...
good job... excellent!!! you doing a book signing tour??? if so, let me know and I'll make room for you at UD... a celebrity writer-artist in our midst!!!
Thanks for all the kind words -- could not have done any of it had the nuns at St. Rose not beat reading and writing into me. :-)
I am at the NJ National Guard Museum in Sea Girt in my part time retirement job as assistant curator on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, so if you have a book that needs signing, please stop by -- and I will give a customized tour.
As for a Roseville history -- well yes, I like the idea. Would like to co-author with John. We would have to find a publisher willing to do it, but I have one in mind. I am presently in the midst of editing a NJ Civil War book for the Sesquicentennial Committee, working with one of my publishers to get my history of NJ black soldiers in the Civil War in print and writing a history of the Battle of Monmouth, which is already overdue at Westholme publishing. By February the decks should be cleared.
There is a gate guard, but all you have to do is show him a valid driver's license and tell him you are going to the museum. Getting on base is not a big deal like at Fort Dix or Fort Monmouth.
