I give you Mr Joe Bilby's link to a Civil War + Newark NJ story in the Star-Ledger

http://nj.com/news/index.ssf/2009/09/civil_war_captains_unmarked_gr.html

It never fails to amaze me about Joe's knowledge and ability to navigate ways of discovering information.
We've got to hook you up with Ken Burns!

You are right Laura. Joe Bilby is one of our greatest assets. I recently purchased a signed copy of his book on Asbury Park. Excellent....extremely informative. I urge everyone to get a copy. Next book....A History of Roseville? How 'bout it Joe? John? BD

Historian stuff

Thanks for all the kind words -- could not have done any of it had the nuns at St. Rose not beat reading and writing into me. :-)

I am at the NJ National Guard Museum in Sea Girt in my part time retirement job as assistant curator on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, so if you have a book that needs signing, please stop by -- and I will give a customized tour.

As for a Roseville history -- well yes, I like the idea. Would like to co-author with John. We would have to find a publisher willing to do it, but I have one in mind. I am presently in the midst of editing a NJ Civil War book for the Sesquicentennial Committee, working with one of my publishers to get my history of NJ black soldiers in the Civil War in print and writing a history of the Battle of Monmouth, which is already overdue at Westholme publishing. By February the decks should be cleared.

Where is the museum. My husband is in that neck of the woods on occasion.

Pat, The Museum is located in Sea Girt. It's in the NJ National Guard and the NJ State Police Training facility just off Route 71 and Sea Girt Ave. BD

There is a gate guard, but all you have to do is show him a valid driver's license and tell him you are going to the museum. Getting on base is not a big deal like at Fort Dix or Fort Monmouth.
