| Sorry to see this. It doesn't mention the Imperial Lancers, but Vince was one of the best. He started out as the "bus driver" then moved up tp Director. It was in starting the partiots on Cranford he surrounded himself with Jeff Shick, Les Brown, Charlie Kauffman and Jack Leahy.
Vincent P. Flanagan, 79, of Clark, N.J., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, in Peggy's House of the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, N.J., surrounded by his loving family. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral from the Walter J. Johnson Funeral Home, 803 Raritan Rd., Clark, N.J., on Friday, March 30, at 9 a.m., thence to St. Agnes R.C. Church, Clark, where a Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J. Mr. Flanagan was born in Newark, N.J., and lived in Cranford, N.J., before moving to Clark 35 years ago. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Agnes Church. Mr. Flanagan was a co-founder and director of the Cranford Patriots Drum & Bugle Corps. He was also a member of the Clark Knights of Columbus Council 5503 and the American Legion Post 328 of Clark. Mr. Flanagan was a salesman for Durkee Spices and Reckitt Colman Company of Englewood Cliffs, N.J., for 25 years, retiring in 1997. He was the beloved husband for 45 years of Mrs. Betty (Hassett) Flanagan and the devoted father of Mr. John Flanagan and his wife, Mayra, of Florida. He was the cherished grandfather of Sarah Elizabeth and Michael Francis Flanagan. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael Arthur and Helen Rita (Reilly) Flanagan, and his brothers, Joseph and Edward Flanagan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. I remember Vinnie Flanagan. Although I can't say I knew him well, he always seemed like a decent sort of guy with the interest of the Lancers at heart. Rest In Peace. |
