I bet there are a few folks here who remember Foster's Drug Store on the corner of Roseville and Seventh avenues. By the time I came along that property was a grassy area adjacent to the McEvoy Apartments. Rooms were available for rent on the second floor, from what I've heard, and it must have been a handy place to live, close as it was to the train station -- and the White Circle!

Great picture John....I love looking at old photos of Newark, it gives me an entirely different perspective of the place. I do remember the White Circle...that was still around when I was a kid. If memory serves me right, I remember going to a store on Roseville Ave near the corner of Seventh Ave where I would buy my comic books. The good old days....

Foster's Drug Store

I remember a fire in the late 50's on the second floor of that building. I believe it was an insurance company. Also I believe Pere's Lounge was at the rear of the building on the Roseville Ave. side before moving across the street into the old postal building on Seventh Ave. and Roseville Ave.

Sadly, this is the only photo we have of the White Circle. Dr. Berg should have walked down another block!
