If todays ko time had been switched to either mid-day or even 7.45 kick off, would we have improved on 300 plus? Donny Rovers are at home on the day when theyre set to clinch promotion,Barnsley at home,Sheff Utd at home. Couldn't we at least try summat different, enough is made of lack of finances etc. etc.? Would it not have been worth a go to try and attract some sort of extra support? Perhaps Steve could give us his thoughts? And well done lads for turning the squatters over again.

Maybe it would have been an idea to try a different kick-off time - its something to bear in mind in future. The only thing is kick off times need to be agreed between both clubs and lodged at least 3 weeks in advance with the league so we can't just look at the fixtures a week ahead and then look at changing the kick off time. If you forsee something similar in future e-mail or phone me or any Committee member so that the possibility of changing a kick off time can be discussed well in advance.

I feel a bit disappointed that no-one at the club spotted this scenario though. The three Nationwide league games mentioned pulled in almost 40,000 fans, two of those were within ten or eleven miles of here and had joint attendances of almost twenty thousand. I'm not suggesting for one moment that thousands of those supporters would come swarming over here that night, but surely nothing ventured nothing gained? And I do see the point that someone will no doubt make that people would have come in the afternoon but not at night. However,I do believe its down to the club to initiate something along these lines,if only to at least TRY to make an effort. Would it have been unrealistic for a 7.45 kick off to pull in an attendance of 400-450?

I agree that its worth experimenting with different kick off times, especially in scenarios such as this. No-one knows how successful it would be until its tried - if it fails then it doesn't happen again. However, considering the recent form of both sides and the drastic decline of Emley's support I doubt that we could have expected a crowd of over 400 no matter what time we kicked off.
Since John Longbottom and Jack Broome's leaflet campaign early in the year we seem to have managed around 200 of our own supporters at each home game, despite not having particularly good results. Emley's recent home games have seen them have not many more than 100 in attendance so maybe at best we could have got another 40 or 50 through the gate which could well have brought us another £200 to £300 - and is obviously worth having.

Steve,I dont want to flog this death and I take the valid point about Emleys lack of support and the poor form of both clubs. However I think there was a chance to maybe attract supporters from other clubs, particularly Doncaster and Barnsley as well. While we simply ko at the same time that opportunity isnt there. That was the main point I was trying to make,I think that the few hundred who turned up for the afternoon kick off would have been there anyway,I believe that there was a fair chance of maybe attracting some floating support. I do hope that next season the club will attempt to experiment with KO times to some degree.

When does anyone at Frickley try to take any initiative? Asking the club to plan a different ko time is asking them to look forward. All this club does is look backwards to the good old days of Reedy and Co. Frickley had their chance 20 odd years ago and they blew it, now they are dropping down to another lower level of football. Top non league soccer at Westfield Lane. I think not. Harrogate is the place to be!

I wouldn't see them as a role model - the reason they are on the up is that they are being bank rolled, and given the size and prosperity of the town the gates are pretty poor.
There are enough examples of teams who get an injection of cash for a few years then the main man get bored/impatient, goes off and the club disappears. I would never want us to turn away good money (Please note Mr Russell) but would equaly never want us reliant on it - its gone as quick as half the team some no hopers in the midlands (who funnily enough got monied and got nothing).
Just to note the attendnces are on the up and many thanks must go to the efforts of the people in the village as the results and occasionally the effort on the pitch have not lived up to that off it.
