Hi

I realise that this is a long time ago but I wondered if anyone who may remember back to the history of the club when it was Frickley Colliery?

My Dad was Jack Grainger. He was born in Barnsley, signed professional forms for them I think 1931/32 season. He joined Southport FC from Barnsley in the 1932/33 season. There is an article in his scrap book about him returning to play Frickley Colliery when Southport drew them in the cup. My Grandad, George Grainger kept quite a few hostelries around the area after breaking his leg in the mines and I believe they run chronologically as :
> >
> > Royston Social Club (known as the 'BUSH') where his brother Joe was
the secretary for 28 years.
> > Railway Hotel, Royston.
> > The Fox, South Hiendley.
> > A club at Havercroft
> > A club at South Elmsall.

I wondered if any one remembered the occasion and/or had any further
information.
