I started programming in the year 2000. My dad gave me an old IBM PS/2 286 computer to play around with. He told me stories of how good he used to be at programming while in college. It took me a while to get the hang of MS-DOS, but once I did, I found BASICA 5.1 and started programming simple little programs in that. I came to this forum looking for help on BASICA (which I had mistakenly thought was the exact same thing as QBasic). After I realized that I needed QB, I downloaded it and started programming in that. I got pretty good, but no one saw may last few programs. My hard drive crashed.
Earlier this month (May 2004) I found a backup copy of *ALL* of my old programs. You will get to see them. I have to finish one of them, but the rest will be posted soon.
Late last year I decided to leave QB and learn C++. I had tried to learn C before, but found it too complicated then. I took a week to refresh my memory on C. I could not program in C++ because I did not have a computer. Instead, I read books and tutorials and learned it in about two months. I then started learning about the WIN32 API. While I was learning about making Windows programs, I got my new computer. My first C++ program is a Reversi game for Windows.
I recently decided that I did not really want to leave QB behind. I would start coming back to this forum (somehow I remembered the URL after a year away from it). I would start answering questions to keep my QB skill up. I have lost most if it, but that's ok. I'm taking a programming class my senior year in high school. Maybe that will completely refresh my memory of QB.
