Clippy, let's keep our hands to ourselves

I, as I'm sure many others, would appreciate it if you wouldn't berate the freebasic.net forum or it's users there.

No matter what you may believe, neither Lachie, nor any other individual user or group of users, besides the FreeBASIC development team, represent FreeBASIC or freebasic.net. Nobody is condoning Lachie's original post (and he has since apologized for it), and whatever fault you attach to him because of it, you are guilty of as well.

We all enjoy BASIC; let's end this playground childishness here and now. Please and thank you.

*and thank you for recognizing that Clippy doesn't represent us either.

Yes, there are always a few bad eggs in the bunch

I can understand having strong feelings for a particular site and the users that frequent it. But, just as in real life, vengeful retaliation usually just works to add fuel to the fire, making everyone involved--and the communities they are "representing"--look bad, which isn't good for anybody or anything, the least of all BASIC.

Unfortunately, the anonymity of the internet tends to loosen people's mouths a little bit, allowing them to say things they would not ordinarily say; I've fallen victim to it a number of times in the past, which I regret.

Thanks for your time, happy hacking !

You can use your real name.

Everyone here knows that I am not the greatest fan of Clippy but I do not understand your post in light of the fact that Clippy has just been banned from your site. As you are one of the major posters at FB.net and do a lot of work there I would have thought you knew that.
We have got enough problems at the moment without stirring from FB members, mainly because we don't ban everyone that Mac doesn't like (lol). As Michael and you pointed out, the majority of people on both sites are quite happy to live and let live.

My original post was made before I was aware that he had been banned. I also choose to post anonymously so that there would be no connection between any forum, in the hopes that such information would not cloud the issue and proliferate more polarity.. in my experience neutral parties seem to be taken more seriously.

Understand that I do enjoy visiting both sites fairly regularly, regardless of my post count. Re-read my original post if this is unclear, thanks.

Tell the Nazis I said hi.........

Isn't that a shame that you have to use an anonymous name to stay on the FB "communities" good side? I never posted anything anonymously when I was there. Get some balls before you start running your mouth about anybody here sonny! Otherwise, KISS OFF!

We don't censor people here like they do! FB is not worth the effort, from what I have seen posted here, from the supposed honorable "leaders". They act like a bunch of programmer Gods. Well, I just had enough of their BS and banged them back is all. Get over it!

My Real name is Ted. Perhaps you could use your real first name instead too? But WHOGAS! Loaf with those freaks and good luck........

I'm not the anonymous poster above, but...

Like I said, my IP address isn't secret. :-P
(And some people here could probably guess who I am. )

I'm not sure why you think the FB people are stuck up... anyway, it is a fact, we will frequently answer support questions within half an hour, and several of us code more than the people here. (Of course there is more total code since we have a larger community.)
If anything, it has been a good learning environment, especially because some people are skilled specifically with OpenGL (DrD, DJ Peters), WinAPI (MichaelW), ASM (Mysoft, DJ Peters), graphics (several people), etc., there are always people in the chat for live support, and there is not so much off-topic distraction.

(Ie when was the last time you posted any code?)
