Be true to that ideal or else don't label yourself with it. Not being true is a reflection on the individual more than the religion. That doesn't make the religion exempt from criticism though. Pure religion if we take the words of John in the NT is to care for others and keep yourself pure. By having an every Sunday conscience washing there may be some encouragement there to do other than what is stated in beliefs the rest of the week. Not pure religion if you don't practice what you preach or what your label says you believe. As Paul said...don't use grace as an excuse to sin. In any case it is a real narrow road to walk in any belief system if you want to avoid hypocrisy. Good luck with that!
