I'm 73 years old and since I was old enough to be aware of politics, politicians have used fear to control the gullible majority. These politicains know there's a small minority who can see through them, but what the hell, such a small minority can't affect an election.
When I was a child in the old South, fear of "them n.....s taking over" a situation from which, if elected, said politicians could protect us. The ignorant whites bought it.
Union leaders have used fear of the companies without which those protesting who have no job to bring memebers to a killing franzy.
Shrub used fear of attack fro terrorists. Terrorists from whom he alone could protect us. Once again, ignorant whites bought the product.
Religions, from the Shamans and Witch Doctors of old to today's Isalam and Christianity control the masses through fear.
Ronald Reagan created the fear of government from which he would protect us. Again, ignorant whites bought it. Apparently, some still do. Ronal Reagan appealed to the worst in human nature...SELFISHNESS.
Since it is we who elect government, the Reagan method should have insulted the intelligence of the electorate. But then if there is no intelligence, just emotions focussed in our Chimp brain.........................???
You ask, "what do we do something about it?" We just did something about it. We elected a new president who seems to reaonate to the 21st century, not the beginning of the twentieth.
Will he be successful? Sure Hope so. Would hate at my age to lose my retirememt. But I heard on TV where bad, vicious, government will see to it that this doesn't happen. BAD OLD GOVERNMENT.
