The following is built around Fritjof Capra's book "The Tao of Physics." This book compares Eastern teaching to modern quantum physics. For centuries the West laughed at the East. The West in no longer laughing, but is trying to both catch-on, and catch-up.
Science is finally coming around to seeing that which the East has known and taught since time immemorial. Among the basic teachings of the Orient is that the quality, both physiologically and psychologically, of our individual minds and bodies, those of our fellow global citizens, planet Earth and Cosmos are affected by our thoughts. If this seems a little too much for you to digest, allow me to suggest you chew longer so as to make this new spiritual food can be not only digested and assimilated, but transmitted. This new form of spiritual nourishment is in process of being added to our menu of mental sustenance. come as soon as possible to where we can digest it because it is what we'll be chewing on for quite some time. The day of worship is over, and is in process of being replaced by participation.
Actually, we have always been participating with our quality thought but are only recently becoming aware of it. Aware of what? That the achieving the goal of the divine idea of which we are a part (the Word in Christianity) is up to us, not that figment of the primitive mind, the God of theology. As it turns out, Psalm 82.6 and John l saying that we are gods, is true. The East has always known it is true, but the sluggish, slow, West is only now catching on and only at the level of science. It (science) is beginning to understand that human consciousness affects matter. On the remote possibility someone doesn't know it, the frequency of matter is Light at it opposite pole. The Bhagavad Gita says, ""Matter is Spirit at it lowest vibration (frequency), and Spirit is matter at its highest." Do I remember hearing or reading there is a frequency higher than that of Light? Hopefully someone with a background in science can help us. My scientific background is practically non-existent. Books like the Tao of Physics are written for scientifically dumb people like myself.
"Natural science, says Heisenberg, does not simply describe and explain nature; it is part of the interplay between nature and ourselves."
Heisenberg also said, "What we observe is not nature itself, but nature exposed to our method of questioning. The observer decides how he is going to set up the measurement and this arrangement will determine, to some extent, the properties of the observed object. If the experimental arrangement is modified, the properties of the observed object will change in turn."
In atomic physics, the scientist cannot play the role of the detached observer,, but becomes involved in the world he observes to the extent that he influences the properties of the observed objects.
John Wheeler sees the involvement of the observer is the most important feature of the quantum theory and has therefore suggested replacing the word observer by the word "participator." The idea of participation instead of observation has been formulated in modern physics only recently, but it is an idea with which students of Trans-Himalayan Philosophy are not unfamiliar. In some strange way, the universe is a participatory universe in which there is constant interaction effecting change. It is called "Astro-Chemistry" by my teachers.
On page 319 of the same book, we read:
According to Geoffrey Chew, who is the originator of the bootstrap idea and has been the unifying force and philosophical leader in S-matrix theory for the past four decades, the extension of the bootstrap approach beyond the description of hadrons may lead to the unprecedented possibility of being forced to include the study of human consciousness explicitly in our future theories of matter.
Julius Robert Oppenheimer said these thoughts are old to Buddhism and Hinduism and that "What we shall find in modern science is an exemplification, an encouragement, and a refinement of old wisdom."
Everyone having done an honest study of Comparative Religion knows that the scriptures from which the Bible is taken can be traced to ancient India, Buddhism being an off-shoot from Hinduism.
So when we read scriptures like "we are made in God's image and likeness" and thanks to modern science now know that we are condensed space, condensed space the quality of which we affect by our thoughts, the John 10:34 scripture, "ye are gods" takes on new meaning.
Biblical phrases like "As a man thinketh, so is he" takes on new meaning. We are micro-gods of a micro-universe, us, our own universe, our bodies. I think the Kabbalah says, "kill a man, kill a universe."
Philippians 2:5-6 places an awesome burden, responsibility, but also opportunity to "lift-up Christ mind from the Earth. That it is our responsibility to attain that level of mind that will cause the frequency of matter to be "raised-up" in frequency from the Earth to where it begins to resonate to the frequency of its primary, positive electricity, the Word in John l...God. At this point matter becime magnetic, not separative. A word is an electrical frequency that embodies an idea, a thought...a thought-idea with a purpose and a method to achieve this purpose.
The entirety of space is Mind. Mind thinks (creates) thoughts (called Logoi, plural) in the Orient. In the Occident, in which the collective mind of which is limited to planet Earth, thinks Earth is the center of the universe, special, alone, exempt form the birth, life, death, reabsorption processes of cosmos, God's headquarters, the term, 'The Word' (singular) is used.
What science calls the "intrinsically dynamic universe" in which there is incessant birth, life, death of phenomenal appearence and its reabsorption back into its space frequency, is divine mentation at work.
Scripture which says, paraphrasing, "We are the stewards of Earth," takes on, due to this new revelation (new to the Occident) that the evolution, or not, of planet Earth, is in our hands, a new and more awesome light.
Although the majority were painfully ignorant (still are) reference these abstruse matters (abstruse to us) there evidently were those thousands of years ago who had evolved mentally to where they did know these things. Knowing the masses were polarized in their primitive brain therefore incapable to grasp abstracts, they put these ideas down in symbolic and allegoric form. Better to believe in, have faith in, and worship an objective God, for it is true that where there is no hope, the people perish. These advanced human beings left us with messages like I have overcome the world...implying "so will we." Assurances like, "all the things I have done, you'll be able to do...and things even greater than that. How...why could they assure us we'd arrive at that elevated mind quality? Because they had tred the path of mental evolution. They had "made it" and knew we would too.
