Response to James Chapter 1 (Con't)

1:25. "But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed."

The law of liberty is the Word of God. Both the Old and New Testaments call God's Word "law" (Psalm 19:7).

Liberty. This is genuine freedom from sin. When the principles of God's Word begin to be applied in our lives we are freed from the bondage of sin and no longer slaves to sin and empowered to obey God (John 8:34-36).

Blessed in his deed. Obedience to God and His Word bring blessings in our lives.

Pastor Jack Howell

"Some bring God's curse on them by marking off part of the Bible, calling it erroneous, uninspired, less than the very Word of God." - Dr. John R. Rice

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16)
