How Christians can be deceived

An example:

Christians always have the weakness of wanting to be kind to others. Kindness is enjoined by many different scriptures -- but not at the expense of heresy or denying basic scriptural teachings and the Teachings of the ancient Church.

Here is a "Parable" by an Anglican minister, probably from his own personal experience in his congregation. In this parable, for the kindest or reasons, a wife is deceived to resume fellowship with another Church couple who allowed their son to view pornography. That couple also encouraged other children in their care to do the same.

The Devil attacks in many ways, all of them deceptive and designed to take advantage of our weaknesses in leading us away from our Salvations. He even attacks kindness. The wrong type of kindness can easily lead to terrible error and much harm to children and other adults. Whether pornography, or illicit sex, or scriptural misinterpretations, our desire to accommodate each other can lead to the fall.

We must never give up our desire to be kind to each other, or to forgive each other, or to support each other. But we also must remain firm in scriptural truths and in what the Church has taught from the beginning. Both are there for our safety.
