Civil disputes often are a big issue for bitterness and hate. Often they can't be resolved by courts, thus leading to revenge. This is where a person must take gut wrenching resolve to let the matter die. Too often people take the matter in their own hands resulting in even worse cosequences. An example is Jesus's wrath at the money lenders in the temple where he lost his cool. We never heard what his consequences were, but I'm sure he seriously regretted it later.

One of the reasons I don't follow either the bible or christianity I suppose is that I was forced into one of those special schools for Indians for a while. What loving people they were (BARF). So when people preach all this bible loving stuff to me I generally think they are NUTS. But, that's not to say there are not some really good christians. It's just the number is very small.
I think much of Strivers post are far more relevent in that people do evolve over their lifetime and generally (the operative) become more understanding and forgiving. But as for me I will turn the other cheek, but you try to hit me again it's break both your legs time.
