As for the Republicans, if they were a football team they'd be running the single wing formation. I'm surprised that just before each session of Congress they don't get together and say, "let's go in there and win one for the Gipper." They are dinosaurs.
Do you suppose the problem is that America has bragged on itself reference its vaunted Capitalism so much that some just aren't big enough to admit that built into a Capitalistic system are the seeds of its desrtuction? I mean, even football coaches, who aren't exactly Phi Beta Kappas change, adjust, to meet modern football needs.
Socialism, which we have been conditioed to identify with Soviet Union totalitarianism, bailed us out of the Great Depression and is going to bail us out of this Recession. Socialism will once again kiss our bo-bo, make it well and give us another balloon to play with until it bursts. Apparently children cannot be trusted to run and play with balloons. We have an administration who can get us out of this funk we're in. Will Mitch McConnell and his Jurassic Park cast of players want ot go foward, or win one for the Gipper?
When an individual who has been living off amphetamines finally crashes, goes through withdrawal, and finnaly gets to normal, to this person 'normal' seems like depression. Americans, hell, the entire civilised world, has been on a greed high for so long that when their system crashes and they get to normal, they feel depressed.
My wife retired from Dillards... was a department manager. Every month department heads were told there had to do more business than the same month of the past year. We talked about how more and more air was being blown into the baloon; that it was just a matter of time before the balloon burst. Well, on our greed (our amphetamine) high boy were we making money. Prices kept increasing. Now, few can buy any big ticket items. It will be interesting to see what is done with the next balloon.
